This phone is quite impressive. But the 125 grams (Read: Hefty Weight) is a real downer. The lack of lens cover is a shame. No stereo speakers and 3.5mm jack is also a lack when Samsung is trying to release a counterpart to the N79.
Although I've got to admit that I will love to own a phone with accents of metal and has a full-fledged smartphone blood, I will still set that anticipation aside if the price of the metallic materials will be the weight. And besides that, I will probably go for the Nokia N79 as a replacement for my Nokia N82 because the NSeries blood seems better for me because it has something to do with usability, comfortability and compatibility and I guess that's the serious advantage of Nokia S60 Smartphones over the Samsung S60 Smartphones.
N79(NSeries in its vein) has the advantage of usability and comfortability because of the 3D rotating NSeries gallery which is the most comfortable gallery application that I have used so far. I mean, it somewhat tells you to go for more pictures as long as your memory can hold and you can't even think of limitting your files because you will for sure be too lazy on browsing over them on a poor gallery orientation and for me, it really makes a difference.
Then another serious N79 advantage is that, again Nokia NSeries in its vein,it provides wider compatibility on currently developed softwares built around the S60 3rd ed FP2 platform (let alone the NGage games which is reportedly not compatible with any existing Samsung Smartphones). Samsung knew that incompatibility issues or something like that. That's why when Samsung is set to launch a counterpart to Nokia's solution, they often house it in a more sturdy and better build quality than Nokia's because it's obvious that lately, the NSeries makes full use of plastic and Samsung took advantage of that idea and offers a counterpart which makes full use of metal and provides some juicy finishing touches on the specifications sheet to win the buyers. For example, the Samsung i7110's camera features face, smile and blink detection which the N79 all lacks. That way, some features like that might be reasons for some potential buyers to go for the i7110 instead of N79.
I don't know but these things really matters most as it all boils down to users' preferences. Still Samsung i7110 is a nice phone.

Im a SE fan but i think the N79 is a better phone.This phone is really big.118mm in lenght without stereo speakers?

haha, wth? Imagine a courtroom trial. "I swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth, so help me god, I will not copy and paste from Nokia in the future".
By the way, i'm not a Nokia fan, I have Ericsson W902 and a huge Sony fan. This was just an outsiders opinion.

Anyways it packs a lot more punch to take on N79 in my opinion. And I believe as usual this will be available at much lower price than n79. Cheers!!

N82 is 17.3mm, 2.4 inch display, 5 hours talk time, VGA 30 fps but has Xenon Flash, N79 15mm , 2.4 inch display, 5 hours talk time. Samsung i7110 is 12.9 mm, 2.6 inch display, 11 hours talk time, QVGA 120 fps. How you can say are same thing? Not including the package look. Type, and push bottoms on Nokia not so Good.

That "stated" battery life is quite impressive :O, not to mention the other specs (yay WiFi :D). I may be a SE fanboy...no more...

very cool device but no 3.5mm audi jack on board. why samsung did this mestake??? Even though Samsung will bundle an adapter for connecting to a 3.5mm headset. samsung i7110 is the response for nokia's n79.
i7110 over n79:
1. bigger screen.
2. optical trackpad
3. microSD (TransFlash) up to 16GB.
4. better camera with VGA 30fps, QVGA 120fps and face, smile and blink detection.
5. DivX & XviD playback support.
6. only 12.9 mm thick
7. steel case.
8. better design(in my opinion).
9. better battery.
n79 over i7110:
1. 3.5 mm audio output jack.
2. Stereo speakers.
3. n-gage.
4. Touch-sensitive Navi wheel.
5. 16M colors display.
6. lighter(97 g).
i am not a samsung fan. i just try to help you to take your choice.

No doubt this is great phone. It got everything. It'd have been much better if it had stero speaker.

if they made this 8mega pixel, it would be bigger,
and people would complain it didn't come with Xenon flash...
and the whining list goes on and on!!!
I honestly think samsung did a good job this time around,
making this a top mid-range phone.
I just hope the price will also be mid range!!
If so, I am definitly snatching me one of these!
