Samsung i780 - user opinions and reviews

Samsung

> In reply to TechDinosaur @ 2008-06-16 08:25 from Nxsf1. To be able to synchronise Outlook appointments, tasks, etc. to cellphone while on the road. Can this be done? I my secretary arranges a meeting for me and places on my outlook in office will this be pushed to the phone?
-- i have not tried the active sync yet but my brother does it in a breeze. outlook appointments are easily sync'd complete with reminders, occurences and attendees.

2. Reiceiving emails to this phone are not even that critical but would be useful.
-- for as long as you have wifi, you can receive emails thru this phone anytime of the day.

3. Can i navigate with my big fingers easily and find the diary features easily and quickly?
-- if your thumbs are a full inch wide, then i do not recommend this phone. but hey, how many people out there have big hands???

4. I do not need mp whatever, zap this and zap that etc.
-- with the TOUCHPAD technology on this phone, its like bringing your own pc with you.

Is this phone a good choice for a migrating TechDinosaur
-- if you have work and needs a smartphone, this is the way to go.

> In reply to Tsepz @ 2008-06-16 18:57 from M@T2does the i780 come with a memory card in the package?
-nope, you better off buying a micro sd as there are tons of affordable options for you

and does it have tv-out?
-nope, this is a business phone, not a fashion phone that you can flash to your friends thru the tv.

how is the audio quality when listening to music via headset?
-in a scale of 1-10 i would give it a 9.5

does the media player support album art?
-album art? nope, that takes a lot of useless space. this phone is a smartphone for 75% business and 25% pleasure. so there is no need for album arts, you might want to get "fashion phones" like the iphone 3g.

and which web browser do you prefer to use in your i780? opera8.65 or ie? im mainly going to use it to surf the net, play music, take notes in class, gaming, create/view/edit word documents, watch movies/videos and take pics and vids, is it good at these?
-although it has a built in opera browser, ie will do fine. this phone is definitely not for gaming. but as far as watching videos and playing music, it does it with a breeze. taking pictures may not be as strong as most cameraphones now since this only has a 2.0 with no flash.

other than that, this phone (yes i already own one) is my dream phone since it helps me balance my master's degree and work fairly well. :)

And what is the actual batt capacity? 1480mAh? Or just 1000mAh?
Ive got 4weeks to choose between the i780, HTC TyTN-1, HTC S710, and HTC TouchDual.

This it the best phone ever
I have put the Tom Tom gps software on here. Its works amazingly. You can also put the garmin software on here. Read up on it on google and it will give you instructions on how to put it on. The tom Tom is the better gps software for this phone and is esier to use

yep. i totally agree with all the satisfied customers here. its a smartphone. if you guys purchased this one, it is expected that all of you are already "smart" enough for this phone.

hsdpa is automatically enabled whenever you start surfing the net. if not, just go to settings and have it enabled.

wireless connections are not always on, it bleeps out from time to time. the wifi option is at your home screen, with just one click you can start sniffing out wifi connections.

Am still using a paper diary to carry with MS Outlook on office desktop PC. Using 2 diaries does not work. I have the option now to upgrade my cellphone contract to HTC TyTn II or Samsung i780. The main features I need are the following:

1. To be able to synchronise Outlook appointments, tasks, etc. to cellphone while on the road. Can this be done? I my secretary arranges a meeting for me and places on my outlook in office will this be pushed to the phone?

2. Reiceiving emails to this phone are not even that critical but would be useful.

I checked out most of the links on the left for purchasing this phone and these are the results from the better business bureau (BBB):
Overseas electronics: Unsatisfactory link
Importgsm.com: Unsatisfactory link
popularelect.com: Unsatisfactory link (next best price but poor history)
fizi: NO INFORMATION
negrielectronics.com: NO INFORMATION
b4utele.com: NO INFORMATION GB COMPANY
Next in line:
Cti-miami.com: NO INFORMATION (best price) 449.00
Timtechs.com: NO INFORMATION
(They have reviews on epinions.com but they are suspicious nice website though) link
My Favorites:
dechowireless.com: NO INFORMATION (secure as I can see) 477.00 security checks
Plemix: NO INFORMATION (secure as I can see) 482.00 security checks

A WEBSITE THAT HAS NO INFORMATION HAVE NEVER BEEN REPORTED TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND THEREFORE HAVE NO INFORMATION WHICH COULD BE A GOOD THING.

what ym client do you use for this phone? i am using mundu for smartphone because there are bug with the 320x320 screen if i use the ppc version. everytime I'm turning off the screen (using combination of keylock and the top right off button) to go to standby mode suddenly my ym session disconnected from the server. it's kinda annoying when you cannot go to "standby mode" when you go mobile.
i have tried IM+ (but forgot which version, but i think it is the latest) but it is very buggy and slower rather than mundu. is this some kind of bug? I already try slick and many other ym client but the client often disconnected by itself (mundu and IM+ also disconnected sometimes. but with slick it is disconnected and freeze)..
my friend use e90 and he uses slick for his YM client and it worked well!. there are also another friend who use IM+ for her TYTNII and it worked like a charm too..
i'm hoping you can tell what YM client you are using right now :)

> In reply to clouds @ 2008-06-07 05:56 from Ui$dhi clouds, as with my previous posts i already was able to buy this phone, now i can do YM's anywhere close to the proximity of my office.

as for your question, the volume can be changed to play your mp3's louder. for me the ringtone volume is A-okay. no need to boom it up the roof, your better off using your ipod with speakers for that.

as for the call volumes (like when you call people) you can edit the volume yourself as i did. i maxxxed the volume out and my friends would always complain now coz they think im always screaming at them over the phone, i had to reduce the volume by two notches for them to find it "okay".

THIS PHONE IS THE BEST SMARTPHONE OUT THERE!!!
