I have Omnia and it is giving me problems. Jet is fast and smooth, and only if you need easy file transefer between your computer and phone does Omnia have advantages. Omnia is top of the Samsung range and has more media features.
I've tried several smart phones and my last experience with Samsung is with the Omnia i900. I'm planning to buy another Samsung phone (my current is a Niokia 5800) but i'm trying to decide between Omnia 2 and Jet. I checked the specs and they're pretty much at par. Except for the back design and screen size what exactly sets them apart? From where i'm at they have a pretty big price difference and I want to make sure i'm buying the correct one for the right reason.
For new WM6.5 ROMs, cooked ROMs (I hope soon), support, FAQs, Guides, Tweaks come over at http://www.modaco.com/category...-modaco-com/

As for WM7 or WM8 I don't think there will be an update. Usualy you get one update to the next version not a series of updates. Companies want to you buy new phones with the new operating systems on them.
The only way to get WM7 or WM8 if the Omnia 2 can run them is to get a cooked ROM to put on your device. There's not much development support for the Omnia 2 that's why I purchased an HTC HD2. HTC has alot of development support for their phones. Even if the company doesn't come out with an update (WM7) for your phone you can get a cooked ROM for it through developers. Also they develop alot of themes for the HTC phones....
I found the solution to my frustration with the touch player wherein you cant search for the song by just typing the title. But apparently on the windows media player you can. So im pretty pleased with that. Unfortunately, another problem ensued. When im playing the windows media player, then I locked the screen so I can put it in my pocket, if the phone got turned backside up (facing down), they music stops (which is understandable due to the proximity/etiqutte set up something) but then when I try to unlock the screen using the (of course) lock key, it wont work anymore. Its like the lock key got busted somehow. I sometimes have to remove the battery to unlock it, or press other buttons like the off/on, the volume rocker alternately and then press and hold the lock key real hard, before it would get unlocked. Its annoying. And im worried this would ruin my lock key in just a month or so of use. Does anyone know what to do? I tried to visit samsung center and the effing cellphone would work just fine. Bugger! Then when I got home..same problem arises. The customer rep might have thought i was faking it or something. Its twisted..
Also, same problem with my you tube player. It just wont play.It would go to the website but when I choose to play videos,it would say file timed out or something. And when I showed the customer rep in samsung, they dont have a signal in their center so they cant check if I was lying about that too. Imagine,a cellphone center without a signal?Hah, How is that for a blooper? SO he asked me to try to visit another samsung center. Its like being asked by a police to find another policeman because he doesnt have a gun. I dont know if I should get angry or laugh. Argg..

Mak, 03 Nov 2009i have been using the omnia 2 for a week now, my overall experience has been a good one till ... moreHi Mak, try the task bar on top of your screen. There's an icon there thats looks like Y with 4 bars. click that then click on the wi-fi to turn it on. It shd have a green color on the small circle. To check, the task bar would show 2 arrow types going sideways. If your in a hot spot, you'll get connected at once. if there are few choices, you'll be prompted to choose one that you want to connect to. To turn it off, same procedure, just make sure the green circle becomes gray to indicate disconnection. Thats how I connect and disconnect in mine. Good luck

I know that right now, WM 6.1 is the version that is in the phone, in most of the units being sold right now.
And I know, the upgrade comming now is the WM 6.5.
What I really want to know is if I will have the possibility to upgrade from WM 6.5 to WM 7, or WM 8, so on....
Thats what I would like to know. I like the specs of this model, and I just want to know if haveing this gadget I will be able to upgrade my OS every year.
i think the few reasons for the wm6.5 upgrade delays in many countries are:
1. 6.5 is hardly considered as an upgrade, it's only a facelift. in dat respect, rather than causing a worldwide outcry of disappointments, they're (MS) just buying themselves time. time for wat? a proper apps store? a proper OS?!?!
2. i saw leaked photos of winmo 7 in gsmarena, (not really sure if they'll call it dat) so i suspect rather than working hard on 6.5, they're goin for the real deal... and hopefully, this one will turn out fine.
3. winmo platforms over the years had been no more than a silhouette behind phone manufacturers' own personalized UIs. now it seems MS wants to be recognized as one, such as the iphone. hence, like so many software producers, 1st put in a facade to make some ppl happy, while keeping that upgrade brewing in the background.
im open to corrections ppl, im not an expert, but "sharing is caring"...
is it possible for this phone to upgrade the current 256mb RAM to either 512mb or 1gig?
I have a Omnia 2. Had it for about a month now. The phone is Great. I think it's the Best phone on the market today and for 2009. This phone has great features that I've yet to explore. One think that bugs me is that Samsung is SLOW to release the 6.5 update for this phone. To me, when MS annouced the rollout of WM 6.5 Samsung should've had the update ready for there customers who bought the WM version 6.1 phone. It's taking too long for an update. HTC already relased the WM 6.5 update for the Diamond 2 and Touch Pro 2!!!!!!!! It seems HTC is the better company when it comes to phones and updates. Also there's more support for their phone's as well. If you want to update your phone there's plenty of developers out there like Xda developers to take HTC phones to another level. I don't see that much support for the Omnia 2. I just recently purchased a HTC HD2 and cannot wait to get it. I still love the Omnia 2, but that HD2 is a Great looking powerful phone......
