STEP 3
Please backup your SMS, contacts and internal SD to your PC.
NOTE: Samsung Kais will not work anymore after step 3.
1. Download the prebuilt release of
CyanogenMod you wish to install from
http://cm-10.1-20130522-NIGHTLY-
galaxysmtd.zip

Optional: Download gapps supplemental 3rd-
party applications packages for Samsung Galaxy S-I9000 from
http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-2...1-signed.zip

a must.
2. Place the CyanogenMod rom .zip file on the
root of the SD card:

Transfer your file(s): adb push
YOURROMZIP.zip /sdcard/

If you boot directly to recovery and have
an internal sdcard, you may need to run
adb shell mount /data or mount data
through the recovery menu before transferring.
lmportant: Place the downloaded gapps supplemental packages
(eg Google Apps or kernel) .zip file(s) on
the root of the SD card.
3. Boot to recovery mode on the device by
holding Vol Up & Vol Down & Power or Vol
Up & Home & Power.
4. Once the device boots into the ClockworkMod
Recovery, use the physical volume buttons to
move up and down. On most devices, the
power button is used to confirm your
selection, although for some devices the
power button is used as a "back" button to
go up one level, in which case the home
button is used to confirm the selection.
5. Select the option to wipe data/factory reset .
6. Select install zip from sdcard .
7. Select choose zip from sdcard.
8. Select the CyanogenMod file you placed on
the sdcard. You will then need to then
confirm that you do wish to flash this file.
Important: Install the gapps package using the same method.
9. Once both installations are finished, return
back to the main menu, and select the reboot
system now option. The device should now
boot into CyanogenMod.

I modified STEP 3 to save you time, errors and waste of your internet data.
Compare step 3 with the link below but focus on
" Installing CyanogenMod from recovery" on the page.

There are also other roms you could install, but this is one of the most stable.

Yes maybe its not the best phone but you can install a custom kernal and rom, there was hardly any lag when i did this, so quick. The gps was a bit inaccurate but it didn't matter, you quickly figure out where you are. So think twice before you criticise this awesome phone, iphone you can't do crap unless you jailbreak, but now they've patched it with new updates lol.

Worst phone I have ever owned. Huge problem with lag when you install even a moderate amount of apps / use up even a moderate amount of space.
I wouldn't care about design if the phone performed as a smart phone should, but since the I9000 doesn't, this phone feels very cheap and flimsy in the hand.
The camera is terrible.
Internet browsing, WiFi or 3g, is painfully slow due to the phone's lag. It performs at a veritable crawl on 3g even in areas with excellent coverage.
Its GPS is inaccurate even without a phone case with a magnetically sealing cover.

This phone is unusable. Do not buy it.

I just got rid of my iPhone 3GS which started to feel old and boring, (WHICH IT IS) and I got this phone and am blown away by the power and complexity of this outstanding tool, it makes iPhones look like NOKIAS!... best of all I got it second hand for almost nothing.. it compliments my Galaxy Tab 10.1.. I am never going to be CHAINED to damn iTunes again, which limits the user, considerably.. Apple treat their customers like idiot's, you cant even change the battery without going to a technician.. no SD support, no easy share with friends... I say "you never own an iPhone, it always on loan" I am liberated and converted, SAMSUNG rule the World now.. the best phones in the world..
