Ray Hipkiss, 14 Sep 2011A friend of mine has a Galaxy S locked to the 3 network and he has been able to upgrade to Gin... moreno its not that. We don't have a pc or laptop that's online, so no way to use kies. I tried downloading kies at my local library, but the kies software was blocked right at the last stage by the librarys security...not sure whether the drivers installed.
Ray Hipkiss, 14 Sep 2011Sorry, the link is faulty. Try this one instead.
What is the RAM showing up after the upgrade?
i 2.3.3. only 329 MB shows up!!
[deleted post]A friend of mine has a Galaxy S locked to the 3 network and he has been able to upgrade to Gingerbread, so in your case it's not the networks fault. Am I right in saying that Kies tells you "This version of the device cannot be upgraded", or words to that effect? If so, it means Kies doesn't recognise that firmware version and will never update your phone.
Your only option then is to manually update it using Odin, or to visit a Samsung service centre and they'll upgrade the firmware for you if you don't want to do it yourself.

What network are you on? I thought all UK networks allowed updating to Gingerbread by now.
Also, what version of Froyo are you on? Dial *#1234# to give the firmware version.
You can install a custom firmware on it... official firmwares are unlikely though.

The technology will advance but we are nearing the peak. The only thing is integrating more functions on the smartphone. As long as there is android OS, this phone will still works well.

anurag, 14 Sep 2011can samsung galaxy s be updated to android 2.3 in india ?can any one answer? Anyone can flash a custom ROM. There are loads of them. Try googling for Cyanogenmod 7..
can yu make video calls from mobile to desktop computers or laptops after gingerbread upgrade?
RED1, 14 Sep 2011I need to decide between the ace and the S. Which is better? I notice the S does not have a fl... moreThe ace has a smaller processor, and i have read users say that this means they cannot run adobe flash player. So basically its which type of flash u want. The camera is fine, although obviously pictures in a really dark setting will be affected. Its just an ok usable camera, thats better in daylight like most cameras. I obviously prefer the sgs and love the 4 inch screen, and speed.
which is better, ace or s ? does not having a flash for the camera drastically affect the image quality of the s?
