KShitiz, 13 Dec 2010Confused between Samsung I9000 Galaxy S and Sony Erricson X10?????? Please help me??You shouldn't be. Before getting my hands on SGS, I've checked X10 and Desire - and SGS won without any doubt. IMO: pick X10 only if You need flash for camera, or pick Desire if You need tougher housing.
is there any way to increase loudspeaker volume of samsung galaxy s just like it was in samsung wave s8500 by pressing *#197328640# ... Im a student and i cant wake up on alarm due to feeble volume.. :(
After upgrade to 2.2 - gps works brilliant and absolutely flawlessly. Does better than nokia 6650, some asus handheld (don't remember which extacly) and some cheap tom-tom device (I've got only theese to compare). Just last weekend made 2x200 km through both cities and some rural areas (south-west Poland) - everywhere signal and tracking was perfect. Checked soft: waze, glympse, google maps, naviexpert.

rebirth, 13 Dec 2010i know you are right about the skype issue. still, i wanted to underline the fact that the pho... moreApps like Skype and games like Asphalt install large part on the INTERNAL memory that on original Desire is only 131 MB, so having a large external sd-card does nor solve the problem with to small internal memory. Desire HD have enough internal memory, but not the "original" Desire.
We are very many that have the problem that Desire can not keep a stable 3G-connection,when you think there is a problem with your network and when you notice very long time before a webpage loads inspite the "bars" indicate perfect coinnection the real problem is your Desire and NOT your network, because the reciever, not the sending part of the same reciever bur the actual recieving part, is "going to sleep" very often. Even Desire HD have this problem and even "professional" reviewers have noticed this strange loss of real connection even though the "bars" indicate perfect connection.
The update to Froyo was not really late, only HTC was faster and thats mostly because Nexus 1 have almost exactly the same hardware as Desire, but many other Androids from HTC were got Froyo a lot later than even Samsungs Galaxy S, and SonyEricsson have only recently uppgraded their X10 to 2.1 NOT yet Froyo. Galaxy S will get updated to 2.3 in the first quarter 2011 and that is soon enough because 2.2 already have Flash 10.1
Anonymous, 13 Dec 2010Official 2.2 have solved all problems, and Skype is now working perfectly on Galaxy S. Desire ... morei know you are right about the skype issue. still, i wanted to underline the fact that the phone received the official 2.2 update VERY late.
about the memory... my phone came with an 8GB card. if I need more, I will buy a 32 one and finish with the problem (by the way, galaxy s had also a 8GB internal, so almost similar - i dont mention issues linked with 2.1).
about the 3G connectivity... I don't know what to tell you. i had no problems to have long conversations (nimuzz, skype, over one hour calls) - no interruptions. more, listening to online radios - no problem. (not to mention that DHD has HSDPA, 14.4 Mbps). if you talk about applications not being able to keep connectivity, you might be right. so far, i did not encounter such problems

for me, the galaxy s experience was simply: disappointing. i never understood (after the first week) why it is called iphone killer.
AMOLED... hmmmmm in direct sunlight... still was unable to see the screen. like on any phone. yes, without direct sunlight.. the colors were super nice, but... no much to really count.
the minuses: update to 2.2. bleah, gingerbread is here.. and only now the update is available?! big minus...
with 2.1, the phone was clearly not at its best. many times iresponsive. the default UI... no really addon value. samsung widgets can not be installed (still, the menu is there).
no Skype support. what the heck?!
lots of applications working perfectly on other android phones.. worked terribly on Samsung flagship. audio quality (for all possible types of messenger applications) - terrible (a really annoying background sound)
while waiting for 2.2 upgrade.. i managed to loose the phone (very sad at the beginning). finally, i've got the HTC desire HD and.. the is one word: excellent. i don't know if it is only the 2.2, but everything is working just nice.. i am very content of it. so, if you want to buy a new phone, think twice.... i don't give the comparison chart of the 2 phones, you can do that by yourself. i have only told you about my user experience....
