Just had my Omnia delivered. Looks a lovely phone. I am following charging instructions. Anyone out there that has this phone can you advise me that when phone switched off, should I see a battery icon charging on the screen as I cant? Should I switch it on before the initial 16 hours so I can see if its charging. On off switch is illuminated so i can see power going into phone but just cannot tell if charging. Help would be appreciated.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2008-08-28 12:42 from 4TLrAll phones (electrical equipments) will have some problems now and then. BUT some do have
excessive problems! iPhone is a good example, and the Xbox too!

I think this is one of the reasons why Samsung waits/waited so long with the introduction of the Omnia. They want to avoid such big problems as the iPhone has now. They have selected some test markets where the device was introduced. With the experiences in these test markets Samsung optimised the Omnia and now it is ready to be introduced in other countries as well. And yes, now and then there will be an Omnia which does not work as it should be, but hopefully not as many as the iPhone.

> In reply to Layman idiot @ 2008-08-28 06:56 from m25Swell windows mobile is more flexible. theres more applications and software for it, but symbian is definitely more simple. I think symbian runs faster too.

well i got my omnia 2 wks ago and its simply a combination of the regular i mate or htc but in a faster version and similar to the i phone but a bit slower so....lets take for example that im from the middle east and i phone is the wrost phone for our region since nothing can be opened here so i geuss im more than satisfied from omnia since it offers me a variety of applications to use but i have a slight disspointment for its battery and its weakness with sunlight...but as an overall package i recomend it to all users who enjoy such phones

In reply to Andrej-
The device didn't have any more than one programme running at a time. The device was taken out of a sealed box in front of me and was switched on and passed to me. There seemed to be a lag when changing menus and the autorotation is slow and doesn't always work.
I understand this may be improved by sensitivity settings but as far as first impressions go, it's enough to put me off.

Great Device long waited for,
I tested this device in store at Vodaphone Shop Coventry, The unit is slim, light wight offering Mobile office (word Excel power piont, task calc and notes) this unit is not slow at all,, ( I can only imagine the persons coments below about performance were due to too many applications running at the same time like any computer the more programs running slow the unit down. (start/setting/system/task manager) this is were you stop unused programmes/ apps,, In my opinion its the best phone for office work and internet connection while on the move, well done Samsung, and Vodaphone for there super fast mobile connections, I have also own the TMOBILE Ameo (HTC Phone) and the I900 is faster due to its HSPDA modem at 7.2mbps oh im now a proud owner,

Been trying to decide if to get the omnia or wait for the i8510. Just had a play with Omnia in my local Vodafone store. That easily made my mind up, I'm gonna wait for the i8510. The omnia is sooooo sloooowwwwww it made me cringe.Glad I didn't go ahead and order one !
