Just got i900 phone from Singapore unlocked but am having trouble setting up WiFi. Have entered WEP key correctly for 2 different networks but it still won't connect. Any ideas
my omnia died while it was downloading the third file for an upgrade. it was lifeless -- no amount of prodding, battery reinsertion or pressing of the power button worked. resigned, i brought it to the singapore samsung service center. after a substantial amount of waiting, even though i was third in line, i was told it needed to be taken in to resolve the problem + the upgrade. i agreed.
what i thought was really surprising was that the service staff actually did not know that software upgrades can be done online. but i digress. anyway , i was told that it would be ready for collection after three working days (and they work on weekends), but 6 days later, i still have not heard from samsung. disappointing. i sure wish their service standards were one of 'underpromise, overdeliver' like the way omnia did.
the 'loss' of omnia prompted me to look around of a replacement. a bit of backdrop: in the last year i go thru the following phones (at least the most prominent ones, in this order): 6120, N95, N95 8 gb, E90, 5310, N81, N82 then Omnia. N95 was a joy to use but i m not too crazy about sliders. crucially its battery life sucked.
after much research and evaluation, i realise that the Nokia N95 still has a huge following (unlike many other phones which just come and go). so i decided to sell my N82 and topped up $180 to get a brandnew N95. at first i was somewhat disappointed. i tot i had read that n95 now had auto screen rotation. turned out i was wrong -- only the 8gb version does. but to my delight, the battery life of n95 *now* is terrific. i could go thru a day of mild usage with still FULL BARS of power left -- reminiscent of E90. the buttons are terrific, voice clarity excellent and the speakers are outstanding too!

I the shop (Telfort) they told me that the Ommnia will come out in week 34, more precise the 18th. Media markt also spoke about week 34.
On Samsung's site they say it will be introduced at the millionaire fare (summer fair) that will be held from 29 till 31 August in the Grand Hotel, Huis ter Duin in Noordwijk, The Netherlands.
So somewhere between the 18th and 31st we can expect the device to come available I think (1 September is on a Monday).
PIMP, 14 Aug 2008Dear Kevin I own a Omnia and have no problems with goggle map. So the problem you are facing i... moreI use route66 software. i really dont think that is my fault. it cant be. theres not much options to screw and i dont cosidere myself a noob.
don't do the latest update...wait until the next....u will lose hactic feedback and i don't notice a decrease in bugs or an increase in speed...
From what I have heard, the i900 is not compatible with the 3G network of AT&T, USA. Is this true guys? Coz the AT&T network is HSDPA 2100 and the i900 USA version does not support that. Guys, I am crazy about this phone. But I cannot shift to another operator because my entire friends list and the people with whom I talk for more hours are in AT&T.
I just upgrade new ROM to my I900 It's work great faster and many bug fixed here is the link http://www.samsungmobile.com/p...sub02_xp.jsp
Dear Kevin I own a Omnia and have no problems with goggle map. So the problem you are facing is due to you the user. Don't think you are operating the gps correctly at all.
i have one and it seems that the gps it´s not very precise. many times the gps put me out of the road whem i am in the right spot even with agps on.
anyone experience the same problem?
does anyone know if u can switch the camera to the front lens? or is it only for video calling? or if u can how do u do it?
Anonymous, 14 Aug 2008Are you going to leave O2 and buy from them, or just go and hand a look at the handset?
£35 p... moreHaven't decided yet. Just rang o2 and still no word. £35 is a lot - however I had to get a similar priced plan when I got my N95 - and it looks like Vodafone and o2 offer a decent all-inclusive web deal. So if it is not on either of those I will wait.
I'm hoping when it is in stores they may be a choice of network, although to stay with o2 I think I might have to go direct to get an upgrade.
Lee, 14 Aug 2008I just rang my local phones4u shop - they expect it to be in at the weekendAre you going to leave O2 and buy from them, or just go and hand a look at the handset?
£35 pm seems quite expensive to me, but I guess it depends on your usage.
I would consider reverting to Vodafone but Orange does not have to coverage in my area.
Can't understand why O2 are being so dilatory.
a question to all omnia owners, what are the flaws & problems you found out in your omnia until now?
