having checked out the iPhone and discovering it has a crappy 2mpx camera and NO video, it seems logical to go for the Samsung Tocco which has the same stuff but a 5mpx camera and video although the Omnia is even BETTER than the Tocco and should be worth holding out for, bigtime.

We're all waiting so long, not only you. It has just been released this week in Italy. Most of the rest of Europe is still waiting for this great phone. I expect that persons will announce when it will be available in their country. So yes, you have to wait, but not only you. Cheers!

Oh, by the way, it seems that Starhub is offering Samsung Omnia at S$298/S$398 with a 2-year contract and a S$200 trade-in.
If you are already contracted under a certain category of plans, you can also get it at S$548 if you have completed 12 months of your 24 months contract. I'm not sure if that price is inclusive or exclusive of the extra S$100 re-contract fee, though.
I was told of this early re-contracting price when I called up Starhub to enquire today.
If you can wait it out a little, perhaps prices will drop further. I purchased Samsung U700 from Starhub last year at S$298 with a 2-year contract, gleeful that I got a pretty good deal. A few weeks later, it was available at S$0 with a 2-year contract, along with a goodie bag!!!
Perhaps Samsung Omnia won't ever drop to S$0, but still, it might eventually come much cheaper than its current price tag...hopefully.

i have recently just bought omnia and i totally love it! however, i have tried dl-ing ce-star but i am unable to install. anyone here have dl the chinese software from there? if yes, may i know how you do it? thanks in advance!

No phone worth that much to pay to make a phone call and sliding icons around on home page. I have my HTC Touch wthich I am fairly happy with.
