This is a post I wish I could find more of on a daily basis. There are others of course you read when you end up learning something that you did not before, this post is one such SUBLIME. 'Linked' my Nokia & Samsung user guides as both these approach it differently. THANKS. @ Anon ymous re N8 this was a phone I considered however the Nokia changed the battery to a non user changeable so meant carrying a charger & not a spare. Reliability issues with the N8 factored in my decision not to "go Nokia". But just 1 example of 'practicality' re SGS2 Atrix say Samsung decided to include a spare battery a thing Nokia could not do, so I would still have that worry with the N8. Even with the N8 12Mp camera the phone the other choices are other dual core phones
[deleted post]NOKIA N8 doesn't have such technical specifications as SAMSUNG Galaxy S II...
um, good review, great pity about the SD card...
and you still have no clue about how long the battery lasts???????
Anonymous, 15 Apr 2011Hi, Just take care while you are thinking of giving output to tv via MHL port. current tvs... moreNo, you are wrong, their support it, just not all TV's can charge device (in our case mobile phone).
April12th, 15 Apr 2011gsmarena have previewed this phone again called second encounter what is new to me is this on... moreThe expandable microSD card needs to be "mounted" when it is used, and "unmounted" from the system before it is removed to prevent possible damages to the hardware. However, users forget to "unmount" before they pull out the card, so Samsung made it hardwarecally impossible to pull out while the battery is attached.
Hi,
Just take care while you are thinking of giving output to tv via MHL port.
current tvs dont support it and you will end up buying convertors. I say HDMI port still better option. See link

gsmarena have previewed this phone again called second encounter
what is new to me is this on page 2
"Underneath the battery cover you can see the microSD card slot, the SIM compartment and the 1650 mAh battery. The microSD card is unfortunately not hot-swappable. Surprisingly, the SIM card is."
why make the simcard hot-swappable? any technally minded have an answer why they have chosen this route
thanks
This seems like a great phone; I am hopeful that a version with T-Mobile USA bands become available soon; would be great if it had AT&T and T-Mobile bands like the G2X. However, the main point that I wanted to make is regarding the lack of a dedicated camera button. I prefer buttons, but it doesn't seem too many manufacturers include that in their design (I can only think of Sony Ericsson at the moment). There is an app that will let you choose certain hardware keys to take a picture. The app is called Camera Zoom FX. You can choose the volume up/down button or any other hardware key (except the power button) to take pictures. It also lets you take a picture by just tapping anywhere on the screen. There are PLENTY of other photo options as well. It costs just under $5 in the market. Just thought I'd share...
ive heard this is a ginger bread phone. i love gingerbread men

AnonD-1846, 15 Apr 2011Be carefull, Atrix it's very good phone even if they is not 8MP or Gingerbread still Atrix mak... moreThe Atrix is a SUPERB phone and is beats my currunt smartphone easily even with just a 5Mp camera. Marginal differences r not enogh to make me change my mind and there is more on just this list of pros. I have not checked but as I understand it the fingerprint reader shuts you out completely so not even emergency calls which could be problematic. Again Galaxy S2 fan so I don't see this as an alternative choice in my case even though it probably beats 90-95 % of handset released
iphone and nokia seems hard to match up samsung galaxy s2
.truly a computer in ur hand
i have been waiting 2 buy d best smartfone available.im confused between d lg optimus 2x and d samsung galaxy s2.which is a better option 2 wait for.

Hunky, 14 Apr 2011Other advantage of ATRIX over GALAXY SII is its screen resolution. Atrix is 960X540 and not 48... moreI do not think so. Atrix uses pentile pixel that makes less clarity. The odd resolution also makes some apps aligned left&top--not full screen--so the screen would be ugly.
Really..., 15 Apr 2011Well... lets see if TFT can beat Super Amoled Plus. Oh.. btw, It's running 2.3 gingerbread... ... moreBe carefull, Atrix it's very good phone even if they is not 8MP or Gingerbread still Atrix make nice pictures, record HD video will even record at 1080 after update.
Talking about update Atrix will get Gingerbread too and that not a problem.
But there is other featuring that Atrix have but missing on the Galaxy S2:
* Bionic Fingerprint
* qHD Display
* Battery 1930mAh
* Laptop Dock
* Multi Media Dock
For this Atrix is special although Galaxy S2 have more power.
* Dual core 1.2Ghz
* Super Am display
* 16/32GB
* 8MP at the back and 2MP front.
* Thin 8mm
For me it is difficult to see the winner late see how both will perform in the market.
BRAVO! Samsung. Very good phone.
FURY, 15 Apr 2011India and UK getting the Exynos 1.2ghz SGSII model.. I am just curious as to why the UK gets t... moreYou know when you need to get the info needed you're tied up. UK may have a smaller number of handsets but we have do have a higher proportion of smartphones users overall and more people % wise with more than one handset. We also have a only 5 'similar' sized networks all of which have HSPDA 3G+. The last article I read on this commented on the fact that the US is catching up but will be a with its sppreciation of smartphones as some carriers are not 3G even 384Kbps. So UK networks are more likely to have this item on contract handset part subsidised whereas US not which means in order to get this purchased sim free. At the time if reading e.g none of the US had 3G video calling, so things may have changed a bit but we in the UK do love our smartphones.
i love SE, 15 Apr 2011in reply to grewsober. Hey frnd samsung phones are packed full of specs.but they forget to spe... moreSony devices look quite nice I'll agree to that, but only that. If you have noticed, Samsung engineers very well. They do produce the thinnest and the lightest mobile devices and this is considered designing well. How can the leading company not spend "a lot of time" designing? Plain looks are great in my opinion, it suits the power very well. The extremely thin profile gives you the option to use a case and still keep it thin.
Good designs will obviously show itself again and again. SGSI had a great success and one of the reasons was thin and light design. No doubt they will reuse them over and over again. Samsung did repeat in producing the best hardware specification to be precise. No they did not repeat the specs, they very much doubled the spec they used on Galaxy S. I don't think people will be angry with the power of this phone.
WTF is headphone quality?... They give you nice headphones? I don't even...
You made it clear that you love Sony, but don't come to a Samsung page with half-ass knowledge on mobile devices and expect not to get your insensible comment criticized by people who know what they're talking about. Only makes Sony fans look bad.
