Thank you for the information. Just another query. Is the black out due to proximity sensors ? Kindly check on your phone and confirm.

Hi guys! I bought my Galaxy R last year in december and i'm very pleased by its overall performance, but just like you, i'm facing the same problem with the battery as it drains away very quickly, even with wifi, bluetooth, push services, GPS, all off and also no applications running in the background. It only lasts for couple of hours if you are browsing on the net or play some games. I don't think is hardware related, even if my Battery Usage indicator says that the main draining thing is the screen (40-45% drain). I say this because i keep my screen on Automatic brightness most of the time; i tried to keep it at minimum level, but the difference is also minimal: 30-35% drain. After i installed android booster app, this app told me that there is a software process related to the screen which drains a lot of power: com.sec.android.app.lcdtest. I don't know if this is a Gingerbread process from Google or a tweak from Samsung, but can't be unistalled or turned off. I don't even know if this is the real draining process, but this is what the app says.
Could you guys confirm this on your phones??? Please let me know and give me some help in this situation!
Should i wait for the official ICS firmware, that may fix our battery issue?
Note: i have Gingerbread 2.3.4; Version: PDA:I9103XWKG8; PHONE:I9103XXKG7

> In reply to Hashimak @ 2012-01-09 14:29 from uw1@ - click to readAm facing the same problem as well. Its only showing 3.75Gb available in the internal memory.
One more bothering aspect is that the battery drains away very quickly. I have already reduced the screen brightness to minimum. Wifi, bluetooth, gps are all off. Still the battery lasts only for 8hrs even while not in use. Any one can let me know how to tackle this problem...
Besides these two probs... the phone is excellent in performance. Smooth touch, excellent display and fast processor...
The contact sync is excellent as it joins details of a contact from all places (FB, twitter, MSN) and merges it as a single contact.
Overall am very impresssed with the phone functionality.

I have purchased Samsung Galaxy R and the the Company has claimed that the built in memory of the Phone is 8 GB. But there is only 3.75 GB Memory shown in the Phone. The reason for the same is not known

1. no problem with Wifi..
2. back case is plastic, not metal.
3. No hanging issues. but it blacked out once. I removed battery and restarted. Working fine. Had this prob only once.
4. display is gr8! no complains....!

Planning to buy this phone mid jan...having read the reviews here, a few questions :-

1. does the phone have any problems directly connecting to a WI-FI router?

2.Is the back base plastic or metal ?

3. Are there any general/random issues such as phone hanging, screen blacking out,etc ?

4. Any problems with SLCD display as such ?

Have been using Galaxy R for over 20 days now. Its working good. No complaints so far. I have been reading the posts regularly here to keep on getting some extra information regarding my device.
The most common comment is the battery life and i can assure you its good when compared to other smartphones. I was using Iphone 3g before and it troubled me a lot with its battery backup, so for me Galaxy R is great with battery as it lasts for at least 24 hours (doesn't drain out completely though).
When compared to Samsung galaxy S2, certainly S2 is technically superior (everyone knows the differences with processor, camera, screen etc) but i don't think there is any noticeable difference when it comes to using your phone..... and when they have dropped the prices to 21k why would you go for S2 which is still at around 28k-29k.
I would definitely recommend this phone although i didn't have a good experience with Samsung phones earlier but with galaxy, Samsung has got it right this time.

> In reply to GHUFRAN @ 2012-01-08 13:44 from rAhU - click to readthere is video light, flash turns on for as long as u record it if u want to record in the dark.

3 hours from full battery to completely empty, i just don't believe you, or u must have all apps turned on in the background, which is also not likely

And one more thing,, 3G net speed of this phone is worse than Nokia 5230/33's over same service provider..

awesome phone. I liked it very much.
Runs smoothly..
But
Battery backup is very poor. Drains completely in just 3 hours continuous use of net while keeping display brightness at 10%.. 5MP camera of Nokia I'd much better than it's.. No Video light so can't shoot in darkness.. The only good thing is that it is auto and touch focus camera not like the annoying fixed focus of Nokia..
