Go to settings then privacy and switch off back up and restore options. It should improve the battery life dramatically. I was also facing the same problem with my battery on galaxy r but this has resolved my problem.I am now getting more then one day backup with medium to heavy use. Also uninstall any other antivirus sw you may have installed from the market.
can ayone tell what to do when i connect the usb port to the computer and it is not showing the presence of the device. but phone is getting charged on connectin to computer. but i cannot transfer anythin to phone from comp as the comp is not reading anythin. when i connect my other phone wave 2 to the same computer, no prob like that. i can transfer anythin to wave 2 but not to galaxy r
bought galaxy r 5 days back. faced same black out problem. phone automatically switches off even when battery life is more than 50% and to restart i had to take out the battery and then put it and restart. company then changed the set.
I have used many smartphones (LG o2x,galaxy s,LG black,se Neo v) but battery backup is better in this phone......so if u never used smartphone, then don't blame battery ....cause it is best so far in my knowledge
Vampire008, 10 Jan 2012Am facing the same problem as well. Its only showing 3.75Gb available in the internal memory. ... moreDear Vampire,
I was facing this same problem but it has been sort out. Please make sure that 3g data package also disbaled. I have done this 48+ hours i got the battery back up. When you need the 3g,wifi,map just enable, if you do that believe me you willbe totally satisfied. I am using this phone for past few weeks EXCELLENT PHONE it is really WORTH. including battery back up i am giving 10/10. Thanking you
Well I think the SC-LCD is better than AMOLED as my Galaxy S screen is flicking alot when I use Wifi on it. So SC-LCD seems more durable.
Thank you for the information. Just another query. Is the black out due to proximity sensors ? Kindly check on your phone and confirm.
Hi guys! I bought my Galaxy R last year in december and i'm very pleased by its overall performance, but just like you, i'm facing the same problem with the battery as it drains away very quickly, even with wifi, bluetooth, push services, GPS, all off and also no applications running in the background. It only lasts for couple of hours if you are browsing on the net or play some games. I don't think is hardware related, even if my Battery Usage indicator says that the main draining thing is the screen (40-45% drain). I say this because i keep my screen on Automatic brightness most of the time; i tried to keep it at minimum level, but the difference is also minimal: 30-35% drain. After i installed android booster app, this app told me that there is a software process related to the screen which drains a lot of power: com.sec.android.app.lcdtest. I don't know if this is a Gingerbread process from Google or a tweak from Samsung, but can't be unistalled or turned off. I don't even know if this is the real draining process, but this is what the app says.
Could you guys confirm this on your phones??? Please let me know and give me some help in this situation!
Should i wait for the official ICS firmware, that may fix our battery issue?
Note: i have Gingerbread 2.3.4; Version: PDA:I9103XWKG8; PHONE:I9103XXKG7

One more bothering aspect is that the battery drains away very quickly. I have already reduced the screen brightness to minimum. Wifi, bluetooth, gps are all off. Still the battery lasts only for 8hrs even while not in use. Any one can let me know how to tackle this problem...
Besides these two probs... the phone is excellent in performance. Smooth touch, excellent display and fast processor...
The contact sync is excellent as it joins details of a contact from all places (FB, twitter, MSN) and merges it as a single contact.
Overall am very impresssed with the phone functionality.

Planning to buy this phone mid jan...having read the reviews here, a few questions :-
1. does the phone have any problems directly connecting to a WI-FI router?
2.Is the back base plastic or metal ?
3. Are there any general/random issues such as phone hanging, screen blacking out,etc ?
4. Any problems with SLCD display as such ?
Have been using Galaxy R for over 20 days now. Its working good. No complaints so far. I have been reading the posts regularly here to keep on getting some extra information regarding my device.
The most common comment is the battery life and i can assure you its good when compared to other smartphones. I was using Iphone 3g before and it troubled me a lot with its battery backup, so for me Galaxy R is great with battery as it lasts for at least 24 hours (doesn't drain out completely though).
When compared to Samsung galaxy S2, certainly S2 is technically superior (everyone knows the differences with processor, camera, screen etc) but i don't think there is any noticeable difference when it comes to using your phone..... and when they have dropped the prices to 21k why would you go for S2 which is still at around 28k-29k.
I would definitely recommend this phone although i didn't have a good experience with Samsung phones earlier but with galaxy, Samsung has got it right this time.
