All I know is, there is no such thing as a dual, tri or quad band LTE chip (AS YET). So each i9300 has to be fitted with the 1 LTE chip for the market it is going to be sold in. Why don’t you just go into your service provider and have the phone tested?
If the phone was made by Samsung for Mauritius and you are in Mauritius and Mauritius service providers offer LTE, (most likely they will all use the same band for LTE) then it’s going to work. You only have a problem with LTE when you import the phone from outside your region.
Note: if the phone is from Orange and you plan to use on a next network, it could have a network lock on it, that you will have to get undone before you can use it.

As the LTE chip only supports 1 band. Samsung has to put the chip to match the service provider they are shipping it out to.
If I was to buy an i9300 from service provider “Y” in country “X” the LTE would work on there network. But if I took that i9300 and travelled to country “G” and used my phone, LTE may not work. I would have to get an i9300 sold but service provider “K” in country “G” to get the LTE to work there. (Same i9300 different LTE chip)

The tec in LTE is not that advance as yet so 1 LTE chip can only have 1 band right now.
Provides sell the i9300 that has the chip that will work on the band they are broadcasting on. As you got yours as a gift, There is no way to tell if the band on the chip in yours is compatible with your service provider LTE other than to take the phone in and have them check it.

The i9300 is quad band in what is marked as 2G, 3G & 4G by service providers.
So yes it will work on the 1800 band.
As for the standard known as “LTE” which is regional on this phone. ONLY your service provider can say if they offer “LTE” service (as there 4G may be H, H+ or wi-max) and if your device is compatible with there LTE network. Hope you understand now.

H, H+, wi-max and LTE are all marketed as “4G”. You need to know what your service provider supports and what speed they are selling.
All SIII I9300 can do 4G but not all of them are sold with the LTE radio (and none have wi-max). The manufacture only puts the LTE radio in devices they are shipping to certain regions because the LTE radio adds to the cost and is not supported world wide as yet.
If your service provider has LTE service, then buy the phone from them as the models they have will come with the LTE radio.

Good riddance (noun. the act of getting rid of something undesirable or unpleasant)!
Samsung you have so many problems and defects, I am very very happy that I went with the HTC one x.. Orelse I would curse myself for getting sucha crap phone for that price.. Once a samsung, never a samsung again is what I learnt after getting my first samsung, star 3g when touch screens were rare n now I see samsung hasn't changed a bit, its the same old boring useless interface.. That day I was comparing s3 to my one x at the mall, s3 literally has half the brightness of one x when brightness is kept maximum on both phones..
There is a feature called smart sync on the hox email app with acts like push email for any email client.
There is no push email on the gs3 native app except for hotmail and gmail thru exchange.
There is true smart dialling on the hox the one on the gs3 totally sucks.
The contacts link with all fb twitter and linked in is awesome sense ui the gs3 fails here
The sense ui is way better then the touch wiz
You cant move apps to the sd card on the GS3
The touchscreen response is better on the hox
The photo quality on the hox is much better and the camera app is better too.
There is no pink spot issue on the hox the gs3 continues to suffer this
The social hub has been removed on the gs3 so u cant have social widget integration.
I think the hox design is slimmer and curved which makes it easier to hold and feels nice

Hi there. I was wondering how does the bluetooth usage affects the battery life? I was going to buy Note2 but since I bought Note 10.1 it seems useless to buy another Spen device just for the battery life. If bluetooth usage doesn't drain the battery very quick, I'll gor for GS3. Please respond. Thanks in advance.
