My wifes S4 has a lot of battery drain from android os. After 8 hours it was almost flat and she had barely used it (has been happening for weeks). GPS is on powersaving, have turned off. I have just turned off automatic unlock for the s view cover, will see if that helps. Any other ideas are greatly appreciated.
There are no major app drains, email sync is at 2 hours etc.
My Note 4 uses about 4-5% overnight.
Abhi D, 06 Dec 2014I have automatic unlock off in s view cover settings from day one.

I'm not getting any such issue with the s view cover problem.
Try getting a new battery if yours I'd faulty. It costs only 1000 rs. Also you'll have one battery for backup in case of emergency.
For low light, even the DSLRs don't match the details captured by eyes, let alone a phone. I have used z2 shd z3 and they're not much better in low light. Also the flash in them is super cr*p. If you want to capture images of moon, go for Sony alpha 7s. It'll come close to your eyes.

As for battery life, it has degraded with every passing month. I used to get around 5+ hours of sot in 1st and 2nd month but now it's 4 hrs at max! No auto sync is on. No additional battery drainers.
As for lollipop i think i will hold till then, but s5 users who have got 5.0 officially are reporting poorer battery life and some performance issues. The 5.0 update of sammy is very buggy.
And in low light s4 fails miserably. That's a hard truth. I was capturing some pics in full moon light and they came out so much bad! My eyes could see 10x more details, everything so clear, while s4 failed badly to capture any details and noise was sky high. Settings used were - auto night detection on, centre weighted metering . I also tried many other setting combos but of no use.
M8 is just a no go for me! 4mpx ultrapixel is a joke and sense ui just doesn't suit my taste!
While s5 is also underwhelming! Such a cheap design, and i'm already tired of touchwiz, bloatware filled everywhere! Lags and stutters...
There is no match for z2/z3 in battery life, excellent camera in low light, beautiful design, waterproof etc...
Though i still love s4's camera in day light!
Abhi D, 05 Dec 2014I own the Deep Black edition of s4... Using it from 5 months!

I'd suggest you to wait for 1-2 months and see lollipop. The whole kernel and UI will be changed and hence your problems will be gone.
For good battery backup, turn off features like location, nfc, WiFi etc when not in use. Also disable system apps like Samsung push service, Samsung link and other Samsung apps that you don't use. Just these changed will increase your screen on time by 1 hour.
For good low light shots, keep night mode on or enable the auto night mode detection. Also turn anti shake on. Hold the phone steady and you'll get much better low light shots.
Ask me again for any help. BTW instead of z2 or z3 try S5 or HTC m8. They have much less problems.
Have a nice day.
I own the Deep Black edition of s4... Using it from 5 months!
It has a problem that isn't sorted by sammy! It is a widespread problem with s4 from starting days.
Screen flashes S view screen randomly when 2g is on.
Took to service centre 3 times but everytime they failed to resolve the issue! So i'm using mostly 3g to avoid it.
But battery life is very poor in 3g. Only get 3-4 hours screen on time.
Also battery has degraded very much in 5 months only. Disappointed.
Pros- excellent cam in day light, sound quality, compact, screen!
Cons - poor battery life, poor camera in low light, hangs/slutters, overheating, slow in some games!
I'm not satisfied with it. So selling it and will buy new Z2 or Z3.
Enough of samsung crap.
Was thinking of buying note 3 earlier but samsung has ruined it with new updates. Battery, speed, random crashes and poor camera have become issues of n3
can someone suggest steps to ..
1- any difference between 100% charged od and new s4 battery discharge speed rates ?
2- any tests customers can do to assess when battery need changing to new
3- woud new battery hold charge longer than old and why
4- sadly -samsung service centres are state of DENIAL -presumably on ORDERS from top
5- how to make battery last longer -

Actually, it's true for any android phone.
But why would anyone want 3X4 over qwerty?

Moon...!, 04 Dec 2014LG G2 or S4... Which one is the best one for the same price...?I have both:
1. More battery life.
2. Better gaming performance
1. Better screen
2. Better camera
3. MicroSD slot and removable battery
4. Physical navigation buttons
I'd choose S4 but G2 is a nice phone too.

dd, 03 Dec 2014wat abt grand prime it has 64bit snapdragn 410..does it has ne future? Also i heard lollipop i... moreFirst of all, lollipop SUPPORTS 64-bit. That means lollipop runs with both 32-bit and 64-bit instructions.
Enabling 64-bit increases performance by about 15%. Also, snapdragon 410 has newer cortex-a53 cores. So battery life should be better along with performance.
Snapdragon 410 should be better than 400, but not by much. snapdragon 615 is a great chip though.
About grand prime, I'm sure it'll get lollipop. I'm not sure about future updates after 5.0. Also, samsung midrangers s*ck.
