benette7178, 12 Mar 2015Which one is best to buy...samsung galaxy S4 or samsung galaxy a5 A5000F??? S4 much better. The other new features like Ultra Power Saving Mode will arrive for S4 with lollipop update. My opinion.
Everything is running okay under Lollipop so far. It uses more RAM than KitKat, approximately 1.30Gb, whereas KK used around 1.0Gb
There are several new apps in the drawer - Foodarena, Parku, & Phone Book (local), which I haven't investigated yet.
It's true that you don't get an icon for USB or headphones in the status bar but then who needs them? Surely the user knows when he has a Flash Drive or Headphones connected, he doesn't need telling. Anyway, you can always flick the Notification bar down to see the notification if you need it.
The new Gallery app is an improvement on the KK version.
Contacts is a bit strange at first. You can slide left/right on a contact to choose either call or message, but also press down on a contact for a second to bring up a menu with options.
I can't comment on Touchwiz because I have never used it since finding Nova Launcher. Other users will have to comment on that.
One good thing that I have noticed is that Samsung have included the Mute option in sound settings on the notification bar. Moto G, Nexus 5 etc. users have been complaining bitterly about that option being missing.
I'll use my S4 as usual today and report about the battery life when I've had a chance to test it.
Its nice look for samsung galaxy s4 lollipop version 5.0.1. Only few are invisible like usb notification and headset are not shown. But it is nice looking. Looks like Its a brand new phone. Thanks
I have just flashed the Lollipop (UK) ROM onto my S4. Everything seems to work okay so far, although you do have to Upgrade Google Play Services yourself.
A word to the wise to anyone contemplating this path to the Upgrade - Go into Recovery mode before you begin and flush the cache partition first. It will prevent any conflicts with any KK files left behind.
i just update on lollipop google service error normal ram consume 1.3 less internal memory ui is good heat up alot
Official Lollipop 5.0.1 firmware from UK
Im using leaked lollipop 5.0.1 right now. Leaked firmware from germany with baseband I9505XXUHOA7, credit to XDA. No issue found til right now, I think small issue only. The USB icon when connected to a computer or in USB OTG is not shown in notification bar but visible in notification panel & the earphone/headphone icon is invisible when the recommended apps options is turn off. But over all, I love this update. :)
(GSMarena, pliz publish it!)
Official Lollipop Update (Firmware) for i9505.
You will need to flash it via Odin.
For others S4 LTE carrier variants, you can try this custom ROM (I'm currently using it):
And also flash the updated kernel via recovery: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934539035
The latest comes with S5, S6 and Note 4 features such as Ultra power saving mode, Private Mode, Launcher Themes, MultiWindow with Pop-up Windows (like I the Note 4) and many more!
No bugs, this is just perfect!
sammygeek, 12 Mar 2015I have my Galaxy S4 i9515 with 4.4.2 KK. Still waiting for Android 5.0@ sammygeek
Read this and then tell me you still want Lollipop. You upgrade junkies make me laugh. It doesn't matter that the upgrade is bug ridden and in some cases actually brick the phone (which is why it has been pulled); you still want it.

Special, 11 Mar 2015Dear 9500 is also LT please check settings.@ Special
No it isn't! Look on the pane to the left of these comments and click on 'Specifications' and then look at 'Network'
The i9500 is listed as GSM/HSPA; the i9505 is listed as GSM/HSPA/LTE. The i9500 is NOT LTE (4G) compatable.
scorpio, 10 Mar 2015Perhaps you have the gt19500 which is not LTE. Only the gt19505 is LTE.Dear 9500 is also LT please check settings.
scorpio, 10 Mar 2015Perhaps you have the gt19500 which is not LTE. Only the gt19505 is LTE.Probably he has i9505 but It won't show LTE option unless you insert LTE sim which is different from GSM/CDMA Sims.
well im using it quite a while now and it's really great phone for me. SURE that battery drains fast if you have all those GPS, WI-FI, data network and others turned on. But hey, i've turn all those down, also WI-FI or network data, and set display light to minimum. I watch a few videos a day, do some calls and texts and maybe some web browsing do some pictures or just fooling around swithing pages where the apps are if im borred. Well my average battery last time is 2 days.
However you can purchase better battery for s4, last time i checked it was 2900mAh which is 300mAh better than original but im sure there is better one also.
the camera performance is great, awesome picture quality, but that quality is lost in low light conditions mainly indoors, outside on cloudy weather it's great.
