> In reply to Neel @ 2009-03-04 15:10 from upeX - click to readYes, you are right. Whether you set a wallpaper or an Mp3 ringtone, the concerned file must be on the Phone memory, otherwise a separate copy will be created in Phone memory. GIF files are supported as is JPG & BMP. Its best to keep wallpapers in phone memory as they dont occupy much space. For Mp3 ringtones, I usually make a 45 second clip of a song in PC using a sound editor and save it in phone memory. That way it doesnt take up too much space (less than 1 Mb).
Btw, I had written a comprehensive review on this phone with 15 pointers covering almost all aspects on the phone. But for some reason, GSM Arena has not posted it. That's too bad coz I really wasted a lot of time typing it out.

You have full of good opinion about the phone. Please keep in touch in GSM arena and keep posting your opinions.
Any opinion on the setting a *.gif image as wallpaper.Problem here is that initially copied the wallpaper to MMC but when I set that as wallpaper I see a copy created in phone memory, is it normal? If so this is a problem.
Thanks,
Nil

Yes you are right that pictures cannot be viewed in full screen. However, talktime easily lasts upto 8 hours if you ask me.

> In reply to Dheeraj @ 2009-02-28 10:23 from vGhD - click to readTalktime depends much on the signal strength. If the signal is weak, then battery will drain much faster. For me, talktime lasts upto 8 hours without too much trouble. The battery usually lasts around 3 days with average use of around 2-3 hours internet use, 2 hours of voice calls and 1-2 hours of music playback.

> In reply to chetz @ 2009-03-02 06:36 from MHx2 - click to read1)There is no separate option to change the delay time. It depends on the backlight timer. The keypad only gets locked after the backlight turns off totally. So, go to Settings --> Display & Backlight. Then change the backlight timer (including the dimlight timer) accordingly. For eg, if you set 1 min for backlight and 1 min for dimlight. Then keypad will be locked automatically after 2 mins.
2)Yes, manual locking is possible. In home screen, press and hold * button.
3)For me, battery lasts upto 3 days with average use. Turn off bluetooth, dont use EDGE much & reduce the backlight to increase life of battery.

Just bought the phone yesterday. Must say its quite impressive with all the features given the price range. Here are a few pointers about the phone for interested buyers:
1)It has 3G but not 3.5G. That means if you have access to UMTS network, you can theoretically get data transfer speeds upto 384 Kbps. Otherwise, EDGE provides upto 236 Kbps speeds.
2)The 2 MP camera is good with flash. Quality of shots is not outstanding but way better than your average 2 MP camera specially at night.
3)It has support upto 8 Gb. I am using a 8 GB Micro-Sd from Kingston. So, it works. The phone doesnt lag or slow down due to excessive storage on memory card or phone memory. Unlike Nokia, the user interface is extremely fast and responsive. No delay whatsoever.
4)It supports Java but there is no option to install games if you manually transfer jad/jar files to phone via USB cable. However, there is a way for manual install. You can follow this guide:
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_...ung_SGH_L700
5)The Bluetooth works well. Version 2.0 is allows for very fast data transfer and the range is impressive too. Any file transferred through bluetooth will be stored in phone memory by default.
6)There is a mobile tracker available. Activate it and password protect it as soon as possible. You might also want to acivate the SIM lock if not the phone lock.
7)It has a document viewer which can display pdf, doc, txt files. But its very tedious to use for general reading purpose due to the fact that the words appear too small and you need to zoom quite a lot and scroll up, down, left, right continuosly.
However, if you intend to use your phone for reading a book or article, make the following adjustments in PC before sending to phone:
a)Change to font to Size 40.
b)Reduce the page margins on all sides to 0 (zero).
c)If the document is larger than 125 pages after font increase, then you need to save the remaining pages in another doc file. This is because the phone document viewer doesnt support viewing more than 637 pages per file. 125 pages in PC @ size 40 = 607 pages in phone.
d)Finally, save the file as .doc in 2000/2003 format. The doc viewer in phone doesnt support Office 2007 files.
Now, transfer the file to phone via bluetooth or data cable. Open the file and choose "Fit to --> Page Width from Options menu. Now, you can read without having to zoom in or scroll left and right. Just keep scrolling downwards to read on.
8)The display is sharp but the resolution is low at 176 X 220. However, it doesnt look as bad as you would think.
9)There is one multipurpose single jack for earphone, charger and data cable. So, you cannot use the other when using one.
10)The MP3 Player and FM Radio are both highly impressive. Sound quality is awesome. You need to use Mp3 with 128 kpbs+ bitrate, atleast, to experience the full quality of playback. Its decently loud but depends on the sound level of the Mp3 itself. The FM radio is fully stereo and its quite loud even on speaker.
11)No loudspeaker option is available while making voice calls.
12)Upto 500 sms storage capacity is available. Phonebook also supports upto 500 entries.
13)The battery lasts around 2-3 days with heavy to average use (1 hour Music playback + 2 hours of Internet + 1 hour of talk). Of course its very easy to make it last 3-4 days if you dont use bluetooth and the Internet much.
14)The phone internet browser i.e Netfront is quite capable itself. But I would suggest downloading the Opera Mini. Its fast and displays webpages as accurately as possible as in PC.
15)Lastly, there is email facility available. However I couldnt setup the email client to send/receive emails from my Yahoo mail account despite using the setting given by Yahoo for Pop3/Imap. If someone can get it to work, please post a reply.
That's all I can think of for now....Bye

You don't have to regret to buy this phone, apart there are lot of good features you can not get in this price range, like amazing camera, 3g , 8gb expandable,Document viewer(I was able to open *.pdf, *.doc, and other Microsoft docs without problem) what more you want..just to keep your battery always charged...no themes i would say a limitation...

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2009-03-03 09:09 from 0nmg - click to readwhat do you mean by poor flash? I really can't get it. In photography, the purpose of flash is to provide clarity of the focused subject. It's light, so light of the phone's flash could reach the subject almost instantaneously. or do you mean something else of this flash like weak light intensity or something? thanx

Samsung L700 is okay, but if you want to install games, or change message tone, its not possible in this phone. Only the trial version games are available, no full version games. And the procedures given above for installation of games using media player mode etc are all "bakwas" does't work. Internet browsing is good and fast. If you want to play games in this phone then plz don't buy.
