I’ve noticed a lot of complaints about MP3 ring tones (or lack of them). Can anyone give me idiot proof instructions on how to set them up.
:o)

If I were you I wouldn`t get this phone. I bought it a few weeks ago and it doesn`t even work properly ! You can`t have any other ringtones besides the defult ones which are already on the phone, If something is being sent by Imode you will not get all of it ( Eg: a ring tone ! You will only get 1/4 of it ) The only thing that is good about it is that its nice and its light but thats about it !

I am not sure if I am really dense or if it is quite difficult but I am unsure how I convert MP3's to ringtones. I read what the intelligent person wrote about having to download something but I honestly haven't got a clue!! If someone could help me i'd really appreciate it.
Thanks

Download the basic AAC encoder from dBpoweramp NOT the M4A one (this is Apples version of AAV, you need just the basic one) After that convert any MP3 you want to AAC and you can set this as a ringtone on the S401i

YOU CAN HAVE AN MP3 AS A RINGTONE. Sorry for the excess caps but some people are giving this phone a hard time about this feature.
To have an mp3 as a ringtone you need to convert your MP3 to AAC format. vdBpoweramp is prefect at doing this, just make sure you download the AAC encoder, also found on the dBpoweramp web site. Easy.

To be honest, if you don't read the spec of the phone before you buy it you shouldn't moan about the memory size. For the price, this phone is well designed and easy to use. Good enough for me.

You can have your own songs as ringtones. You need to change them to AAC files which can be done on media player or by downloading a converting program. These can then be set as ringtones.

New phone bought to replace LG5400 that had a deceased powercell( cant get replacement!! boo hoo) MP3 files are just too large to set as ringtones on this phone, but what would you expect from a mid priced phone. cant fault it. way round getting your old ring tones(polyphonic) onto the new is send them from your old using a mms and then extract the sound on your new. Easy.
