dis is a ruff-tough phone.i'm using d phone since 3 years.the phone has a battery problm as it runs max to 3-4 hrs while surfing n downloading. the volume is tooo slow.. d software problem arises after 1 year of usage...d screen is nt gud,it attains many scratches easily... bt d best thing i've seen in dis phone is its durability.it has fallen down many times bt its still working...

I thought of buying this samsung star, right now iam using a tablet, galaxy tab 2, but because of its size, its not handy. and my question is, after I bought this phone ( $tar ), should I feel regret ?

I purchased my Samsung GT-S5230 in 2010, and payed 110 Euros for it, factory unblocked for all networks (sounds like nothing worth mentioning, but here in my country - Portugal - it IS a big deal, since networks feel they have the right to own property to each phone after they are sold (LMAO)..

I still have it, and it's still a GREAT phone for my humble needs.

The camera is actually EXCELLENT for a 3.2 MP, pictures get WAY better after they have been transfered to your PC, and so do the videos.

The TOUCH screen interface could be better, I know mine works slower because I DELIBERATLY left the protective clear sticker ON. All the scratches are therefore superfial, as you can imagine.

Memory card is 4 GB , the one I personally use - so that the factory software doesn't get "laggy" as mentioned. It CAN be upgraded to 16 GB, but me personally can't listen to so many songs in one day, or take that many pictures...

Now it has a "low-cost" (marking designation) price of € 50,00 - if BLOCKED to a carrier ( such as TMN).

I won't sell mine, still works great, have no use for Internet in my phone, this battery exceeds one WEEK every time, still with 3 YEARS regular usage..

Works great as an MP3 player or FM radio when you are walking around, reception is excelent.

All MENUS are easy and intuitive, this was a mid-level phone when it was lauched back in 2009, I really don't get why anyone would expect for it to perform as a high-end phone, anyway... lol

In a NUTSHELL: one of the BEST value for money phones I've ever owned, and I use them since 1997..so ;)

I owned the Samsung Star for nearly two years, since last August I have an HTC One V with Android 4.0.3 and hell does it make a difference. Today I've used it again for the first time since I bought my HTC and it was just horrible. This phone is laggy, the touchscreen doesn't work properly, the camera is pretty awful, it doesn't even have wifi(so apps like Facebook won't work unless you have a mobile data contract or you're willing to pay a ridiculous amount of money for browsing without contract).
Maybe this was a nice phone back in 2009, but now I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Rather spend 50 bucks more and buy a cheap smartphone (or wait til the Nokia Asha 501 comes out which will only cost $90, it's way better than this).

No,don't ever spent more 500-700 and buy galaxy y.i m using this phone last 2 years dont buy at all.

i've using it for 4 years and its a hard one, just a 2G but wen u used downloadable browser like opera mini and uc browser it makes difference.

the samsung gts5230 is only working with the videos that have a resolution of 320.240 or lower

I am using this phone from 2 years. in these 2 years it has been fallen many times from enough height but there is no damage exept a little scratch on back side. so this has strong screen n body.

Waste of money, many problem in this phone. like slow volume, many games are not suported and 2g network is so slow, battery life is not good. just a dabba phone.
