need help , i have my jet since 1 month . today while using my jet screen freezes. touch doesnt work at all . i dnt know what to do at alll.. need help ,plz help n give me some sugestions...

Does a firmware update can fixed my signal reception problem? coz in gprs mode i get 0-3 signal bars while in the 3g mode 0-2 signal bars! when i put the same sim card on my old SE k750i i have a full signal bars.. pls help me..

I've been a Jet-S8003 user for the past 3 months n its high time I posted a detailed review. Pls note tht Im still using d default firmware. So bear with me-
DESIGN/ PACKAGE- I quite like d design. Its sleek, sexy n fairly well-built (looks very dinky when inside d cover) and d Cube key makes it stand out...all hardware keys r gr8 n ergonomics are sound tho d entire surface incl. d screen gets smudged very easily… But most dumbasses here in Bombay fail to recognize it n almost everyone exclaims 'Corby'??!! when they see it....can't blame them as Samsung has launched tons of touch fones n they all look alike :( D past part is at d back- i.e. d Back Cover with its 'Light-Catching' red weave that is not too flashy n absolutely unique! But d Cube key frm d prototype samples shud have been retained or this one shud have been illuminated, neither of which was done. And d leather cover I have got here in is d same they have bundled with d Galaxy...its very simple. I had seen a much better cover in-box when I had got a demo a few mnths before buyin it...one cud see d Cube key thru d cover...otherwise u get a lot- TV-Out cable, data cable, a weird stylus, in-ear earfones (wid 3.5 mm adapter cable) plus 2 GB card ( in addn to GB onboard storage), manuals n PC Studio CD
DISPLAY/SCREEN- Brilliant!!! D best display I've ever seen in a fone...indoors that is. In sunlight it loses its halo sumwht n u'll have to hold it at an angle..its not tht bad but it performs like a TFT-LCD display. D 'Jesus fone' is scores a point thr. Samsung says it has R-Resisitive tech thts almost like Capacitive n much better than normal resisitive. While d sensitivity is pretty good once u calibrate it, its still not as accurate as 'The One'. A capacitive screen wud have been great as I have not used d stylus even once or tied to used it with gloves, etc for tht matter.
UI/PERFORMANCE- D whole world n its dog knows abt d TouchWiz UI by now n this one has v2.0..and for d record-THIS IS NOT A SMARTFONE.PERIOD!! This v2.0 is quite polished compared do earlier versions n very stable... All d standard apps work well. Thr is only 1 ‘Transition Effect’ which is nice but Samsung thot we wud nt need more…a Big mistake considerin d prototypes had many However this is one of the weakest points of this device- u get bored fairly quick of d UI n then u start hunting for new apps..n there r few, almost none!! which is sad for d impressive HW tht d Jet has including that breezy 800Mhz processor. It definitely desrves more on d UI/SW front.
BATTERY LIFE is terrific! I used it as a dedicated digicam on my Rajasthan trip, snapping min. 30-40 pics a day + few videos + regular calls n txt + a lil web usage + fiddling around...all this for 1.5 days! Back home I stretched it to 3 days plus with miserly usage (only 3-4 calls + 4-5 txts/day). This is partly thanks to d power savin Amoled screen (Level 2 brightness is plenty for daily use).
CONTACTS app has a peculiar prob for me- I jus cud not use d ‘Right-handed’ setting even tho Im a right-hander, d ‘Left-handed’ one works well for me!!
It can do some reasonable multitasking, which is nifty but it is not 'Smart' enuff to handle more than 1 heavy multimedia app simultaneously (Video player n Camera for eg.) tho d 3D multitasking screen is slick.
TEXTING is surprisingly good n d onscreen capable is quite comfy once u get used to it, which u will within a week. I have large stubby fingers n I was afraid typing wud be a pain, but it isn’t! Now, here comes a rather strange n annoying problem –MESSAGE MEMORY- One shudnt even think of hitting the delete key when u got almost 2 GB memory onboard. But the ‘Memory Full…Del some msgs’ popped up when I had jus abt 100 msgs in d inbox! What is even more weird n irritating is tht I cant find any option in d Settings to switch d Msg memory btw phone n external memory…no fone I’ve used till date (which has external memory) has this glitch. And whn I clear most of d msgs (to just abt 20) all d new msgs go to d SIM mem by default! So I have to 1st move thm 2 d fone (which has to b done individually for every msg… Aargghhh!!!) n then move to My folders…BIG PAIN!!!!!! One more thing is tht kinetic scrolling which is ubiquitous elsewhr just vanishes whn u read a txt..!
CAMERA- The 5 Mp camera, in my opinion, is one of the best in its class. Daytime results are fantastic. Thr r many modes n u cud fiddle wid them all day long. Video is excellent too. A steady hand gave me results I never expected out of a fone. Night performance didn’t impress me too much (besides, I really haven’t experimented too much @ nite) as d dual-Led flash cannot substitute for a Xenon n results come out grainy. Thr’s also a photo editor (dynamic camvas) n Video editor if u feel a lil creative. I tried d Dynamic Canvas n its handy to pass sum boring times…wid good effects!
MUSIC PLAYER/ SOUND- It doesnt have stereo-speakers (probably d only real miss in HW ) but its quite loud tho d sound is tinny…u may miss a call outdoors if u haven’t set a powerful ringtone. The music player satisfies my expectations vis-à-vis a mobile fone. It has a variety of EQ presets but sadly, no customizable one. D sound quality is well above avg n loud enuff too. I have tried it wid d bundled in-ear n my Sony MDR-E805 eaerfones both of which r not audiophile level fones, tho d sound was killer wid d Moto Snoop S9 wireless headset!!!…so it shud be much better wid expensive Sennheisers. etc
VIDEO PLAYER- Only one word-Phenomenal!! All thnx to dat superb display…colours, contrast, sharpness, black levels plus wide viewing angles (d ppl sitting beside me in trains r stunned) wil blow u away. And out of d box Divx/xVid playback is a big help…just drag n drop, no hassles. The volume level was a tad low on some files n u’ll have to use in-ear earphones while travelling However, I must add, that quite a few files which play perfectly on my PC refuse to play saying ‘Cannot render file” or a resolution issue. Some of them play widout any video n only d sound is heard.
WEB BROWSING- It wont disappoint u n is quite functional. D pages render well n d One-touch zoom actually works! (tho pinching is smoother, it requires both ur hands). On EDGE networks, I got fairly good speeds, even on the go in some remote areas….and 3G, er is not available here.
CONNECTIVITY- No problems here, all d options work as they r sposed to- Bluetooth, PC connectivity modes, EDGE n Wi-Fi…I haven’t used Wi-Fi a lot but I have managed to connect to sum hot-spots n I guess it shud work fine. As, I tol u b4, I cant comment on 3G…
INTERIM REPORT- The Jet was set to be one of d stand-out performers of 2009 among touchscreen devices n it does live up to tht… Let me conclude this way---
You shud buy it if- U want a multimedia heavyweight (cam, videos, movies, music, web et al) which performs well in most areas, can multitask n covers most of d basics.
Don’t buy it if- if u want an alternative to d iPhone OR you are looking for a flashy, flaunt-worthy device tht will stand apart frm all those other black touch fones a d pub or disco, OR if all u want was just a touchscreen fone n don’t care what Amoled means OR you really think tht the Jet is ‘Smarter than a Smartphone’
Buy an Arena over a Jet if- you are a chick (or a guy wid tiny fingers) n u gotta have d S-class UI or u don’t care for Amoled OR u cant stand d sight of any more black fones n love d silver LG.
It works for me bcoz I had originally intended to buy d 5800XM, due to lack of any other option in d mid-range. But then came d LG Arena n I went in its favour...but just when I thot I had decided, flew in g Jet n I was really confused like many others here. I took a demo of both n d LG wid its horrid keyboard n texting decided it for me.

In fact I also considered sum smartfones (Hero-too pricey here, Galaxy-incapable, OmniaII-pointless)as I desperately wanted to go for a second one after my last 3660 was enjoyable. But, d Jet shud do it for me till I can lay my hands on some new-age Androids or Badas...or who knows maybe...d next 'One'!!
Price in India- INR 17500 (with 2 GB onboard+ 2 GB card) as on 17th Nov 2009
P.S. Keep in mind tht a firmware change may eliminate many of the issues. I’ll post when that is done…..in the meantime, u can shoot any queries…Adios!!

HELP PLEASE... Everytime I try to connect to internet on my jet via my home wifi, it says in settings it's connected, but when I try to actually connect it's telling me no n try again but no luck as to it connecting so far... What am i doing wrong PLEASE HELP
