Samsung U700 - user opinions and reviews

Samsung

I had this phone for about 3 months, now when i slide up my phone, the phone does not response to t=any button i pressed on, i have to wait for at least a minute then only i can get into the menu or sms. Though memory space indicates that it could store for 500 sms, but when my phone reach 200 or more, my phone will hang once i try to send a sms, so i have to delete all my sms. Furthermore, samsung phone local retailer, although 1GB M2 memory card is included, but it does not seems to be a quality that has a long duration, for it because the memory card included given to me just give way after months, now i have to incurred another expense to get a Sony M2 memory card.

In terms of colours, resolutions, camera, they were all execellent, creative wallpaper (living world) which will be put on accroding yo your country landmark buildings.

Sound will be a little soft(low), even i switched to max volume, yet its volume barely can be heard, especially when i'm ar outdoor, in contrast, I have been S.Erricson phone before this, its volume is loud, i just put the volume to 6, but it can be heard, though not loud, but at least i able to know that my phone is ringing.

I thought that I bought a reliable phone but had multiple probs with my U700. First of all the usual peeling, secondly the scratches on the face and then, the phone decided not to switch on at all. Fortunately it (was) is still under warranty and I took it back to our service centre. I got the phone back after four weeks with a new face (front cover) and the switching off fixed. But after two weeks it started to frozen out (blank screen) and only when someone called the phone will come into life and then my theme would be displayed from right to left (mirror effect). Again I took it back to the service centre for repairs which will again leave me with another four weeks without a phone. Since my warranty will expire end November 2008 I thought it wise to take it back to the service centre and I will personally asked for another phone, probably a Nokia to replace it. The message: Don't buy the U700 even for it looks, it has software problems!

had this phone since march, it is mid august now, my U700 has been not responding correctly for about a month, the keyboard is always on, touch sensitive keys don't work, some keys press automatically, basically 300$ USD worth of sh.i.t. I won't buy another Samsung just because of this phone for a while, I had a few much older Sony Ericssons, much easier to use, much more reliable, and you even have such advanced features like changing the text message ringtone, unlike the U700. Don't buy it, unless you are loaded with money, then start planning to buy a new phone within a few months

Only problem is, my phone doesn't work here in Canada anymore.

It looks amazing and all but our store has had so many of these come back it's not funny.

Constant freezing and the dial will die.

Most phones have been repaird more then four times, so it's obvious it's not that well created internally.

Please be wise when it comes to buying your phones and beware on signing for a 24 month contract.

I bought this phone last year, it was great for a few months then it became and ordinary phone which had limited functionality compared to the other phones, the video recording was terrible, the speakers were never loud enough and the touch sensitivity is very annoying! I still have this phone now and probably getting a new one very soon because the speakers are broke on my phone somehow! the ease of unlocking the phone made me send 35 blank texts to my friend whilst i was abroad and the bill cost me a bomb! But the plus points to this phone it that its a very good looking phone and very slim, easily fits into your pocket as if it was transparent! otherwise not really a good phone at all! Touch sensitivity does not work well at all! i tried to like the feature but couldn't :( alot of you probably have experienced these problems(i didnt bother reading all the other posts) but i hope for the sake of you guys, dont buy this phone! there are other better samsungs out there!

NEVER ever buy this phone. I LOVED it for the first few months, even polished it! I have taken great care of it but in less than a year, it has totally frozen and the keypad light is permanently on. A few weeks ago it even texted my sister 28 times - despite being closed and in my bag. All I can do is beg anyone reading this DO NOT GET THIS PHONE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES EVEN IF IT'S FREE!

I'm loving this fone....so far....

we just got the u700 last week. Its a temporary replacement for our nokia N70 which has always been asss slow from day 1 and now even slower..we're waiting for the next generation of iPhone to come through.

I had samsung E700 before and since it first came out till today, its been submerged in water 2 times and still working so I've been impressed with samsung because of that.

one week of using U700.
Games:
I managed to install java games like sonic adventure, super mario bros 3d, tetris, zuma and so forth. all on the fone memory and it hasn't slowed down yet. I saved contacts onto the sim and not the fone. But it took me a full day to figure out installations.

Ringtones
I added some mp3 ringtones from the net and some are soft, some are loud just test them and see which one works better. can also do voice recording and use as ringtones as well if u like that sorta thing..i dont. The default ring and message tones are ugly and annoying but loud. So I use my own. U can assign ringtones to each caller as well..
and also assign caller images too. I have yet to figure out how to change the size though cos its really tiny.

Locking and Unlocking
is a bit annoying. but manageable.
pressing the middle button 3-4 times will unlock. BUT..sliding the fone up will ALSO unlock. Slide it back down and it locks.
Only a matter of time before this breaks.

Touch sensitive.
Is NOT so sensitive for me cos my fingers are normally quite cold so more often than not..it doesn't detect my "touch". Apparently u can adjust it's sensitivity but I dont know how to do that yet.

Ending a call..
If the fone is not slid up when u're on a call, then u cant just press a button and hang up. U'd have to go into the middle button to unlock and then menu to find option to hang up. which is dead annoying. The other way is just to slide up the face and back down and it hang up straight away.
But now I just pick up the calls and then let the other side hang up. They're the one paying after all..hehe.

then again..
its not a big hassle because if u're the one making the call, u'd have to slide the fone up to punch in the numbers or search ur phonebook anyways(unless u love scrolling through the hundreds of numbers)...so your fone is already slid up. So to hang up..just slide it back down. Simple.

Glare?
I get NO glare. I can see it perfectly fine in daylight. why? cos I have have clear plastic protective casing to protect the fone. We didn't buy the fone to show off its..prettiness...

Color chipping??
hmm..I dont know about this yet..cos its only been 1 week, we use the protective casing, and..we got the BLACK colored ones

Camera
you have to slide the fone up to use the rear camera and u have to go into options to change to rear camera. It loads a bit slow. but much faster than the nokia N70. The flash is pretty strong and can pick up objects 2 metres away pretty clear..so thats alright. But I always carry with me a digital camera..so this doesn't really bother me.
Front camera is cool so I can fix my hair and check my make up..hehe

what else...oh...music player.
this one is awesome. good sounds. Just make sure u have really good quality mp3. otherwise u will blame the fone. u cant blame the fone..cos it uses Bang & Olufsen technology. But..I use my ipod so...u know..whatever..

its been 1 week so far...we'll see what happens 3 months from now. hope it doesn't go all sh!t house like many of the later reviews on here..

The phone looks lovely, it's very stylish, touch-sensitive keys and so on, but there is nothing but hassle with it what you will discover only after few months. The silver paint peeling off (looks really ugly), charging problems, over sensitive keys, freezing, navigation keys stop working. Unfortunately I have lost my respect for Samsung since I had to deal with a legion of unsatisfied customers:/ highly unrecommendable phone

I also have the same problem with this phone. The silver paint started coming off just after a month. Three months later, the touch sensitive bottons stopped working. Unfortunately, I don't live in the Phillipines so I'm completely unable to get another one. This was one of the worst samsung phones I've owned so far. Besides the excellent camera and the e-mail function, nothing else on the phone was worth buying. The phone SUCKS. PLEASE DON'T BUY THIS PHONE.
