Changing themes on 3G phones is a nightmare. The operator (Vodaphone / orange / 3) put their own software on the phones with all the settings already installed so that you can just go ahead and use all the 3g services. The drawback is that your whole phone is branded and you can't change the themes.With Samsung Z500's themes you can only change the 1st screen (showing the time etc), the logon and log-off screens. The menu's and icons are all Vodafone's! I thought of putting on original firmware(already downloaded it), but many people have stuffed up their phones trying to. Any words of advice/encouragement/discouragement?

1)to turn your keypad down/off simply use left side/volume key on home screen
2) T mobile do not sell this fone so any mms settings are not standard, try settings for similiar phone ie samsung e720, make sure you copy the settings from a T mobile fone

For those who are complaining about NOT being able to send MMS's or going online, you should talk to your service provider...you might have to upgrade your sim card from 16bit to 32bit/64bit or maybe one of the settings are wrong. Just call customer care! ;-)

i just got this phone, i have been waiting for my contract to end and was looking forward to getting it. i have had no probs with it, battery or anything of the like. the phone is great and suits my every need and is so small for a 3g handset. highly recommended a++++++++++++

How do you turn 3G off? Why doesnt the MMS messaging work? I have T-Mobile. Text messages work fine. Please help?!?!??!?!

i fixed itttt !! yay if ne1 else as dis prob go on2 d video , den options then video settings- scroll down 2 recording time. and change 2 normal NOT limit for mms ( limit 4 mms means u can onli record for 4 seconds!! :-o) so change 2 normal and u can record a full 60 minites. :D hope this helps someone :D biiiiii xxxx

I just bought this fone nd iz wiked exept d videos onli record 4 4seconds?! how do i fix this??
and also the 3G doesnt work, an answer to the short battery life is to let d battery die completly b4 u charge it. it works.

Drag the song into the PC Studio into the ringtone section then go there on your phone and sent it as your ringtone.

I have had my Samsung Z500 and like everyone else am disappointed with the life span of the battery. I have turned off 3G as advised. But have been trying to turn of the sounds on my keypads and am having great difficulty. Can anyone help the book says click options go to keypads and turn off but there is not a button to turn off. Please help

To convert AVI to MPEG4 etc. you can download a little program at the follow address: http://www.download.com/Front-...?tag=lst-0-2
There is also one for MAC on the same site(under the same name).
And yes this phone does have "TV", but only "tv" programs available from your 3g service provider(like 30 sec. "24" episodes) at a monthly rate. (You can't tune in and watch your favourite soapy like a normal tv.)

Hi... Very impressed with Z500... The only problem i have is that it rings extremely soft with downloaded ringtones.. Any way this can be improved??

this phone is real good. i'm just disappointed because of not having a flash for taking pics. i have a question. i need this phone for my work, using videos and so on. the problem is i can't transfer videos from my pc to my phone. it doesn't support .avi but mp4 and.gp. do you know what i should do or how can i change a file from avi to gp?? please answer me quickly i need to have those video's in a few days for a business travel. thanks a lot
