good point on getting separate units rather than getting all-in-one, but you won't believe the quality of the 4 megapixel phone that came out in Japan! When you take the memory card to have it developed, the picture looks better than a stand alone digital camera! Reception of the phone is excellent and it's really handy not to carry two items when one can do it all.
I just am falling head over heels in love with this phone I cant wait to get it in HongKong
http://www.sharp.co.jp/product...timedia.html I think that this explains the best phones going. This is amazing
@ Mark LV:
While I'm not arguing the point that the quality of a digital camera is better I must say that Sharp phones come pretty close.
If you can afford a good phone and a good camera and a good MP3 player...then buy those three.
I prefer having a phone that can have 3-in-1. They will get better over the time...(Korea already has 3.24 MPx in their phones) and the bit-rate in the MP3 players in mobiles will go up too.
Phone + Internet + MP3 + Camera + USB Storage + Organizer = Sounds pretty good to me.
Many phones in Japan and Korea now have optical zoom and the same settings for light and dark environments...after all it's a digital camera, only.
If you really want good Prints then buy a SLR with a Provia or Velvia Fuji Slide Film....that beats Digital by miles ;)
will sharp cellphones work here in the philippines? i have never seen anybody using one. im dying to buy a new phone, and i think my next phone would be sharp 902...that is, if it'll work here in the philippines?? does anyone know?
tried calling sharp philippines, said they dont carry cellphones =( ??? why is that??!?!
Why don't some people get it through their thick, stupid heads that cameras on mobile phones are simply no match for REAL digital cameras? The lens on a camera phone is TOO DAMN SMALL to produce high quality pictures. And you can never have the flexibility and manual features you have on a real camera. BUY A PHONE FOR ITS QUALITY AND OVERALL FEATURES, NOT JUST FOR THE DIGICAM!!
Japan is on
-CDMA2000 x1 (3G AU KDDI)
-FOMA (3G Docomo)
-PDC (2G Docomo AND 2G Vodafone)
-PHS (2G Tu-Ka)
-WCDMA (3G Vodafone)
Europe is on
- GSM (2G Orange Vodafone KPN etc...)
- WCDMA (3G 3, KPN, Vodafone)
Vodafone Japans WCDMA band is the same as Europes band so the phone works in Europe as well as in Japan
by the way the site wont open unless u delete the spaces in between, dont copy and paste.
to Davyjp or Davyjo,
here is the site where they CLEARLY state:
Where have they actualy stated this phone will be out in europe i have only herd and read articles with its release in JAPAN and the phone stat site is only on JAPANs sharp.co.jp
this phone is lovely, ilkie the features in it. i'll like to own it wht is it's cost price?
YES the 802/902 will be reprogrammed and will be commercially available EVERYWHERE in Europe where vodafone is not just Japan everywhere.
No, I'm not stupid, just less informed than you. I only knew of the CDMA2000 and 1X Standard in Japan. Should have known that Vodafone uses WCDMA there.
Thanx for the resources anyways. That with the USIM-Card is weird. Because most WCDMA Handsets we have in Australia (Hutchinson 3 Network) take either "3" USIM or standard GSM SIM cards. I guess it's all politics.
I'm wondering if Vodafone will reprogram their 902 and 802 for Vodafone UMTS in Germany? Does anyone know about that?
I am confused i really want this fone and i live in Australia, will this phone ever come here or not???
are you stupid skater42! Japan works on WCDMA system and these phones are made to work in Japan! What do you mean these phone wouldn't work in Japan, you make me laugh! sounds like you know all the technical details of the cell phone system in Japan. Study before you make any comments!
skater42, what do you mean "this phone won't work in Japan because it's WCDMA"??? why don't you read this site and make your self understand how Japanese phone works and what system they work on: http://euc.jp/mics/cellphone.en.html
What are you talking about? Have you seen the Vodafone Japan site??? The 902 & 802 are the newest model coming out in Japan! And you won't be able to use it in Australia even though it's Vodafone there, the Phone will not accept anything other than Japanese USIM cards.
