Dear all SHARP fanatics & lovers:
I have pleasure in advising you all that the 904sh is finally able to make and receive calls, it can also send and receive txt (note that it is only 80% complete and receiving call isn't stable).
Below is the video to prove:
http://www.56.com/n_v138_/c28_...19180507.swf
However, please note that the 904sh is still very locked!!!

You are right. It is still locked and will stay locked.
Though DB2020 has been cracked there is no one to work on SHARP unfortunatelly.

Uhmm... and your point? Do you think I only watch pix on my phone, or don't you think I would download them on to my PC to post on my website...
They are still the best quality pictures a mobile can produce to this day. 5 glass lenses and a CCD image sensor are top-notch and nothing short of spectacular for a mobile phone.

From my understanding, 904 is still locked and no solution, isn't it?

The display is better, not the picture quality, you fools, the pic you can see on your mobile's screen depends only on your mobile's resolution, the real quality of the fotos can be seen at your desktop's screen!

@ Keita
totally agree with you. I long sold my 903SH but the 904SH uses the same module and the picture quality is SUPERB. The k800i and N73, plus the N95 can only dream of sharp and well saturated images like that!
The only better 5mpx phone I have seen is the non-3G i-Phone 902, with a Sony 5 Megapixel CCD.

Actually,
I just read up and Vodafone has NO shares in Softbank, HOWEVER... they do own a 50-50 VENTURE in producing mobile phones.
So Softbank and Vodafone will develop handsets and technology together and we should see more high-end mobiles hopefully soon. Europe needs to catch up with Japan though and I have a feeling that Vodafone will be the first carrier to introduce new systems in Europe.

From my knowledge Vodafone is still involved (part shareholder?) in the business, however Softbank is the official brand. A bit like Verizon in the states (Vodafone holds 48% of their shares).
SHARP is releasing the 816SH (880SH for Europe) in a month or so and hopefully a VGA model before not too long. There will also be a low-end GX33.
More high-end models may be expected once the western market moves on to IC services like FeliCa (Mobile Suica).
Cheers,
Harlekkin

I don't think there would be any more sharp released to the market, because it used to be vodafone in japan that encouraged the exporting. But now that the vodafone japan was bought by softbank in japan i doubt there would be any latest models being mass produced to export to other country other than japan

SHARP does have its own market in Japan, and is quite sucessful at that. However, it is planned to release new models for Europe this year. One being the slider 816SH and probably a VGA model like the 815SH.
SHARP is not trying to compete in our markets, but it certainly has had the better technology all along. FeliCa and GPS are old news for the Japanese...
