i have a gx30i and it is great, one of the best phones ive had but one problem, the external display sometimes goes white in colour, you can still see the picture it just looks as though it is faded or something, does this happen to anyone else? great phone overall but disappointed with battery life, video quality and the fact the outside gets scratched so easily, especially the chrome parts but probably could be touched up with chrome paint or new housing. anyway that is my opinion.

gx30 looks great and has many features like mp3 player, buetooth and good camera but it's so slow!If U use a memory card and U wanna see some pics which are bigger than 200KB U have to wait and wait what's really borring. And what about ringtones- just SMAFF nothing else.In these days U can convert mpeg or avi to 3gpp or mpeg4
to watch it in your mobile but GX30 offers just 400KB of video playback anything bigger can't be opened - WHY?The last thing why I wouldn't buy that it's terrible sound comming
out from MP3 player - if U turn a volume up treble is really annoying.

I've got a
gx30 with a 1G SD card in. It works but there appears be a 30 MP3 file limit. It won't display them if you have more. Anyone seen this or know a way round it?

I have recently bought a new housing for my gx30, after fitting it the external display no longer works when calls are incoming to my phone. It does work to take photos when using it as a viewfinder. Could anyone please tell me how to fix this problem? Thanks very much.

can someone tell me how long can you shoot video on this phone as I'm about to buy it.I'm led to believe that you can only store short video on it up to 10-12 secs etc. Is this true, any feedback will be greatly appreciated?

Hi. I shall now write a review on the Sharp Gx30 and say what i think is good and bad about the phone.
Good Points
* The screen quality. The quality of the screen, is the best i have seen on a phone. I have had loads of phones now and this is my latest conquest. I have always wanted this phone because i knew it would be great but it was always too expensive. Anyway, now i have it and for me the screen is the first standout feature.
* Camera quality - Once again, like screen, camera is of great quality. Best seen on a mobile phone ever. The detailing is amazing and the camera is easily the best feature - along with the screen - on the phone. There is a macro switch on the handset which helps to take pictures that are less than 10cm away. It's great for picking up on detail.
* Nice size. I really like the size and weight of this phone. I was suprised at how light the phone feels in the hand and i like the size too. It feels solid and sturdy and adds to the quality feel.
* The phone looks very simple, which i believe is a good thing. It has lots of small nice things which build up to an overall aesthetically pleasing finish. The chrome that runs around the camera lens and speaker, and around the top flip sets the phone off great.
* Memory expansion. The phone comes with a memory card and gives the user the option to enlarge. I like the fact that the memory can be switched without having to turn the phone off and removing the battery.
* Keypad - the keypad on the GX30 is nice and large, and is good for texting on. The keys have a green backlight which i dont really like as its kind of old Nokia style, but its not very strong unless your in a very dim lit area.
* Flash light - Love this! It's a really great circle light which acts as an indicator for when calls and texts are incoming, and also serves as a flash light for the camera. Lots of colours to choose from as well as a 'disco' setting.
* Finally the features of the phone are very good. MP3, bluetooth, infared, (although both are limited), 1 mp camera, video record etc. The phone does everything and it does it well too more importantly. As i said my favourite feature is easily the camera and screen, and i just like the look and feel of the phone. It's a great buy if you can take the downfalls....
Bad Points
- Text speed. This is one of them things that puts me off buying a phone so much. I text a lot, and i am very quick at inputting. So when a phone does not keep up with me i find it very annoying - and sadly this is one of the GX30's major problems. Now for most people it wont be a big issue because some may not be really fast, but i am and thats why i am frustrated. Texting is easy to input - just like Nokia, but it lags a little, whereas navigation everywhere else in the phone is extremely quick.
- Its on Vodafone. I hate Vodafone personally. I never get signal where i live, they give you nothing for free, and texting and calling others is a rip off. But thats something that i have sacrificed for this phone. Am i regretting it yet? A little, but i will get over it.
- Becuase the phone is on Vodafone, you get the Vodafone UI, which can be annoying, but i think its ok. Yes its not as good as the colour book that Samsung offer, but we cant have everything.
- Bluetooth and infa-red, are limited. You cant transfer or recieve by these methods which is a bit of a joke, but if it bothers you so much, get the 'i' version.
Well that is about it! They are my major pros and cons of the Sharp GX30. All in all, i am very pleased with my handset and think i will continue to be if the texting doesnt get to me. I hope this helps some people in their decision to buy the phone.
