ok, all those who have this phone outside can give some details and I will try to explore ways to unlocking them. Tell me what you see when you switch on the phone with and without your own country`s local SIM card. Thanks. =)

default setting won't do anything to unlock the phone, as mentioned earlier these types of Japanese phone are tightly software locked and is very hard to unlock. I've heard of one place in the Phillipines that have unlocked the V801SA, but I am not 100% sure if it is true. Only time will tell...

Yes Aj, the phone is a UMTS/GSM 900/1800/1900MHz tri-band phone. Although the phone is (software) Locked to Vodafone and can only be used with a Vodafone roaming network. It will NOT accept any other USIM card other than a Japanese USIM card. I use this phone in Hawaii under T-mobile's 1900Mhz network and it works fine, it's over a $1/minute per phone call, so it's not cheap! Hope this answers your question. The specification part on this site is wrong, it does cover 1900Mhz GSM also.

CGS (Continuous Grain Silicone) and TFT (Thin Film Technology) is manufactured differently but the visual appearance cannot be detected by human eyes. So, there's no differece in visual effect, that's why I said it's the same thing. your eyes cannot tell the difference unless you have extreme sensitive eyes, that is...

Hi Dante, Don't waste your money. You can't unlock Japanese cell phone. Look at this site before you waste your money on something that won't work.
http://euc.jp/misc/cellphone.en.html
After you read this site no need to explain further that it's useless trying to unlock Japanese cell phones. If they are willing to show you that they can unlock it first and prove the software will work, then by all means go for it! You will be able to make tons on money if you can sell the unlocking software! Let me know first thing if the software ever works!!! Good luck!
