Thanks for your useful comments. However, I am also having a problem receiving and sending email from my Orange email account. Any ideas on why this would be?? Your help, as always, would be much appreciated.

Gazza,

Your problem with the wanadoo e-mail is that their anti-spamming policy wont allow you to send mail unless you dial-in to their server, but your phone is connecting to the net through orange's servers to get mail. Sorry but as far as I know there is no way around this.

go back to the NEC europe site and look for the software on the N411i phone area, you will find it there no problem.

I have been able to set up my NEC E540 to receive email from my Wanadoo account, but I am having problems being able to send email from my phone. Does anyone know what the settings should be? Do Orange have to set something up on my account in order for my phone to send email? Help would be much appreciated.

It appears NEC have removed the software suite from their site. Not sure why.

I'm going to setup a Yahoo Group for this phone, be easier to discuss issues and grab the software. Watch this space for link.

After doing a good search for the data cable for the nec e540, it looks like this cable is the standard for a lot of nec phones. I have found that your local CURRYS STORE will have or get you the cable, the part number for this cable is C51-A03019-AAUK, do a search for that number and you will find a cable, but currys seems to be the cheaper at £9.99. Ken.

Hi Again Susie,
Go to this link, in the search box put NEC then in the next box put N411i, it will then go to another page, then click on DATA, and it will then come up with the cable,,http://www.kondor.co.uk/
hope you get it sorted, but email me if you have problems, Ken.

Hi Susie,
I have just been on to the link web page and i can't find it, but i have got the invoice that came with the cable, the company that sends the accessories is a firm called KONDOR the telephone number is 01202-810666, and the product code is C51-A03019-AAUK USB DATA CABLE. That cable is for the NEC N411i, but thats the one you want, mine works fine. Ken

Hi Kien. Sorry to be so annoying again, but I still can't find the cable. I've found the web page of The Link, but I can't find the cable anywhere. Could you possibly direct me to the page I need? Thanks in advance.

Hi Scott,
The bluetooth on the e540 is version 1.2 and will only comunicate with a headset, and will not send data, ir will send data up to 1 meg, but slow, you will be better off getting a data cable from THE LINK web site for £9.99, and then you can download the software from http://www.neceurope.com/mobil...age=ENG&cp=5 click imageing, click n411i click download software, this will give you all that you need, for data transfer. Ken.

Thanks for the link to the suite. I've got it on my computer now, and it works fabulously. With one problem - when I plug the USB cable into my phone, I get a message reading "Battery Voltage Error". I'm unable to transfer anything to or from it.

I've read the previous messages - does that mean I need the USB cable available from The Link?(I beleive mine was a cheaper one, for about £6.99)

Just got my data cable today from The Link
web site, it's great, downloaded 6 mp3s on to the phone, now i am converting my friends names into Morse Code, then into mp3 format, and i am going to download them as ringtones, and apply them to my friends names, so when the phone rings, i will know who it is straight away. the cable cost £9.99 from the link web site. Ken.

Solution found to Phil's cable problem.
Previously bought cheaper cable and got 'Battery overheat' message. Now bought proper Belkin cable from The Link and message/problem now gone.

the link that's been posted takes you to the e540 page, where it states that there are no downloads, try the following to get to downloads dor the N411i (the other version of the phone.
click on 'all phones'
then click on N411i software downloads.
but beware, they are large files, and if you're on a dial up connection, then it'll take ages.
I'll try to include the liknk below
http://www.neceurope.com/mobil...age=ENG&cp=5
