The software evailable from one of your website's links is not working, after downloading the setup and cliking on the actual setup file, the message is coming up saying that "the string is not defined".
could you help to sort the problem out?

hi, just got the nec e540 and its a good phone i have to say but the only thing is how do you put the pics,music and other things on the computer ?

please can someone tell me how to download the ring tones I have beent sent via website. keep getting alert sign and can't download it to the phone, what an I doing wrong please help. It's a e540.

My wife and i both bought the E540, both of us are happy enough with it, but we thought we would get a data cable to transfer music, photos etc. The data cable arrived yesterday and after downloading the drivers and the NEC Mobile Suite from the NEC website, i gave it a go. After managing to transfer 2 MP3's from my PC to the phone, i tried to log off so my wife could get on to install her drivers etc. The computer totally froze, when i managed to log off, my wife had bother getting the Mobile Suite to recognise her phone. After a lot of grief i have uninstalled the drivers and the Mobile Suite.
What have i done wrong, is it a drivers issue?
Any ideas?

Phone is a waste of money. The bluetooth only connects to a headset and nothing else. What is the point of bluetooth if you have to spend an extra £10 on a cable. I can't get the infrared to work. Can't download e-mails even after an hour on the phone to a 'help' desk. The carphone warehouse is getting this rubbish back tomorrow.

same prob as phil pc refuses to talk to phone tried 3 pcs dodgy drivers ? any ideas

Having same problem as Phil. Cable from m-99.co.uk. When connected to PC, phone says "Battery over temperature, remove charger" Any advise to resolve please.

Read down the thread for details of data cable and software. And yes the e540 uses the same cable as the N411i.
I wouldn't be too disheartened about the Bluetooth not transferring. Bluetooth is real slooooowwwwww anyway. Even the latest V2 is only 3Mega bits per second, thats only about 25% as fast as USB1.1. And nearly all phones are only version 1 bluetooth.

Just got the e540 from carphone warehouse. Shame I didn't find this site before as I thought I could use bluetooth to transfer photos from the phone to my pc. I understand I need a data cable, can't find one. Will the cable listed for the 411i fit, is it the same? Will any other one fit? Do i need a software cd, where do i get that? This is my first picture/mp3 phone and any help appreciated.

i got the e540 and for the money i think its gr8, for £60 includin £11 top up u get a 1.3 mega-pixel camera and video and mp3, with these features id expect the fone to be at least £100. i advise you if you want a phone for pretty cheap but good quality and has some good features buy this fone its gr8 value.

If anyone is having problems with downoading the driver for the usb or the nec suite i can put it on a disk and post it out for £2 if you need it, mail me mrgoulden@msn.com

I got my cable from the m-99.co.uk (the aitsafe.com link) today. When connected to the PC the phone displays a message 'Battery over temperature Remove the charger'. Computer refuses to talk to it, saying it is not on standby screen. Tried on 2 PCs. Dodgy cable or dodgy phone? Any Ideas? Thanks
