Just got the e540 from carphone warehouse. Shame I didn't find this site before as I thought I could use bluetooth to transfer photos from the phone to my pc. I understand I need a data cable, can't find one. Will the cable listed for the 411i fit, is it the same? Will any other one fit? Do i need a software cd, where do i get that? This is my first picture/mp3 phone and any help appreciated.

i got the e540 and for the money i think its gr8, for £60 includin £11 top up u get a 1.3 mega-pixel camera and video and mp3, with these features id expect the fone to be at least £100. i advise you if you want a phone for pretty cheap but good quality and has some good features buy this fone its gr8 value.

If anyone is having problems with downoading the driver for the usb or the nec suite i can put it on a disk and post it out for £2 if you need it, mail me mrgoulden@msn.com

I got my cable from the m-99.co.uk (the aitsafe.com link) today. When connected to the PC the phone displays a message 'Battery over temperature Remove the charger'. Computer refuses to talk to it, saying it is not on standby screen. Tried on 2 PCs. Dodgy cable or dodgy phone? Any Ideas? Thanks

One other note.
You can use the backup/restore button in the left hand panel of the NEC Suite to take everything of the phone in one hit. Saves trawling through folders doing individual files.

Okay i've installed the software on 3 PC's now (home, work and laptop). No issues so far.
Just make sure you install the USB drivers before plugging in the phone. Also install the Suite as well. Windows will find the phone no probs when you next connect it.
Start the NEC Suite and click 'Get List' button. I get the language warning but just click Yes to proceed. The Suite will scan the phone and display a list of folders in the bottom window. There's four icons up the top (movies, melodies, photos and MP3's) and each one display a different list off folders.
Use the bottom and top windows to transfer files too and from the phone. Top window is the PC, bottom the phone.

Russ recomended two links to get a usb cable to connect to a PC. He recomended one for the link and one cheaper at aitsafe.com for £6.95. There have been some concern about aitsafe and no deliveries. I got my cable today, so anyone waiting, you will get your cable. I downloaded the USB driver and mobile suite from NEC and installed them. After this loading mp3's and j-pegs into the phone no problem. So now new MP3 ringtone and wallpaper on my phone making it more personal.

got data cable software & drivers
Phone wil not connect to pc error the Language of phone and nec mobile suite must be same are you sure you want to continue
it was a good phone even if the bluetooth did not work phone to phone but i will change my mind it cable will not work phone to pc
when i load software the option for language is English USA None for UK HELP
it also wants to charge my PHONE on data cable and tells me to remover it

I got the e540 last week mainly for photos and realtones. spent ages messing on with bluetooth to discover it's useless. then followed russ's leads - got cable from link, downloaded driver and nec mobile suite. now trying to connect phone and it's saying phone not connected. is this dodgy lead or am i missing something? windows xp saying detected new hardware earlier (though not now) so assume lead must be ok (making plink noise when connecting as usual). in programmes section of pc there is red line through phone in driver icon, does this mean it's not installed properly? i'm totally computer illiterate. please help!! i've wasted far too much time on this already and all i really want is a decent ringtone! THANKS!!
