Bought the e540 from Carphone Warehouse, arrived yesterday. Can't see what the problem is with the phone. All the features work and are far more than should be on a £49 phone.
Haven't tried the IR mind but not to interested anyway.
'The Link Accessories' sell the USB transfer cable for £9.99. Arrived this morning, price included delivery. It's under NEC N411i.
Menu's will always take some getting used to when coming from another brand. But it only took a lunch break to master them.
The phonebook is easily accessible and far better than my old Nokia.
Both camera and MP3 very easy to access. I prefer the operation of the Camera to my sisters Motorola.
On the whole for a measly £49 it's a great deal.

just got a e 540 today from carphone warehouse and with bluetooth paired it with my husbands phone, nokia 6230i. it did that fine although we cant send each other anything.also a file of only 1.2 megabytes wont be accepted by infra red as there is not enough room. gave up on trying to send owt phone to phone and ive searched net for data cables. no were has them or knows if there are any!!! is this phone a joke? it may be a bargain but its very disapointing.

KATIE- to send things from ur phone to others via bluetooth or infrared, you first need to activate your connectivity in the connectivity setings depending on if you want to use bluetooth or infrared..then get the other person to activate theirs...select the file you want to send and select send via bluetooth/IRDA(infrared) they should then receive the file,,,if you want them to send to you they do the same!

I'm thinking about getting the e540 but everyone seems to be complaining. can someone tell me what the difference is between the e540 and the n411i. is it a good fone or no? i'm really worried as i really do want to get this phone but i'm scared in case it busts after a few weeks. why is it so cheap?

I have found it quite hard to get the hang of this phone because I have always had a Nokia. I found the NEC helpline really good 0208 9938111 and ask to be put through to the mobile phone section. Most of my problems were due to being on O2 pay as you go. They talked me through changing the settings and even rang me back. For the price it is a bargain

Hi JACK, I was also thinkin bout getting this phone, with the FANTASTIC price at the Carphone warhouse! Im sure it does have bluetooth, it say in the Carphone warhouse magazine and many people who have posted opinions says it HAS bluetooth and the specs also say it has, so im pretty sure it does.
I wont this fone so bad, my mum likes it too but i dunno if she wud let me have it, but for the chaep price, its amazing. Some bluetooth might not work, on my old phone i was able to send stuff to my m8s fones and they wer able to send to me no hassle, but not my m8 who cudnt send to me, she had a nokia 6310i, im sure blue tooth wud be much better, cos its also more fun! write bk xx
