I have my S55 for 2 years now. It is THE BEST phone ever. All downfalls mention here are just not correct. I use all of the functions a lot, and they work great. Too bed that later Siemens phones are not as good ;).

This phone is a gem. I've had mine for nearly two years now and there simply hasn't been anything to beat it - the only ones close have been the Sony Ericsson and Nokia haven't even come close, despite their enormous range.
I use this day in day out for business and the battery is still giving pretty good life. It has never failed me, and whilst I agree the keys could be a bit small for some it really is some performer.

Remember when this came out there really were only a couple of Bluetooth phones in the UK - The 6210/6310 brick, and the flimsy T68i. To last that amount of time in todays competative mobile phone world is a credit to Siemens - a pity they seem to have left Bluetooth out of so many of their phones since

Very nice devise I love it, the only think is about the display, size (Small) and clarity (low resolution).

If this phone was shit, it would actually be an improvement. The blue tooth modem hangs up straight away before the remote computer your dialing has a chance to answr and then says "Remote computer not responding" Utter crap!

I have entered an incorrect security code and know my phone is disabled and it is requesting for a phonecode.

What should I do in this regard.

A fone full of annoyances. If you are used to Siemens, you are perhaps used to this shit and think S55 is better. For users of Nokia or Sony, the S55 is just trouble. The manual is a joke, just shows the menu entries and nothing more. Setting profiles and ringtones is a nightmare! You can set a ringtone for the phone, then for the profiles, then for caller groups... Which ringtone will you expect to hear?!? The first thing you have to do when you get a S55 is start downloading software updates and some ringtones that won't make people laugh at you. And some less ugly color schemes. And backgrounds. Then read all of these unofficial forums with secret tricks to remove operator logo, animations and all that ugly shit. If you're 12 years old and from southeast asia, go and buy it. Everyone else, stay away. The screen has only 256 colors and the resolution is terrible! Try the screen test and look at the zigzag/staircase diagonal lines!! And how about the red/blue/green tests! If those are the primary colors, no wonder the pictures look so weird.

ES you're talking bullshit

Sound quality is simply top! On the loudest level it might be too quiet on some locations, but you can simply switch to handsfree and hold that close to your ear. Do not push it against your ear (it could make you deaf!).

Battery live is outstanding.
On very light use my battery lasts more than a week with ease
On heavy use 4 days.

Don't understand why the display is hard to read, maybe in direct sunlight...

Keyboard might be a bit to small for some. Never had any problems with it, I have big hands!

The softkeys are as logic as can be... That's the big advantage of Siemens phones. The function of the softkeys vary, depending on the function you are using. It takes some time and intelligence to get used to it. But after a while it becomes very logical to work with. It also makes working with the phone very fast. Most people simply don't get it. They are used to 'Nokia-way' of walking through the phone. You know up is always up, down is always down, cancel is always cancel... = very slow way to get done what you want.

Reception is very good! On some locations where others have no reception at all this phone still gives 1 block.

IRDA worked without a single problem. When i bought my notebook I enabled irda on my phone, put it next to my notebook and i could transfer files within a second....

For software: look around on the web, the latest version of the software is version 91. Not very logical numbering, but it's the latest.

Adressbook cannot be sorted using the firstname, if you want that simply swith firstname and surname when entering the contacts.
Problem solved....

The S55 has a very good looking design, so if you want to look cool at the café or bar, it works well. But if you want a phone to actually use, look somewhere else.

The sound quality is terrible, both to the user and the recepiant. Battery life sucks, semi-active users need to recharge at least once a day. Display is har to read. Keyboard is small and uncomfortable (at least to a man). The software is very little intuitive and the use of the softkeys are inconsequent. Irda hardly works. Even with 100% reception, calls are often not received but routed directly to voice mail.

Also, the Siemens mobile web is poorly updated and organized. E.g. my phone has version 20 of the firmware. Siemens offers version 16 for download(!?). I was hoping for a newer version to fix some of the firmware glitches.

And can someone please tell me how to sort my address book by first name instead of sirname?
