This phone has given me and other colleagues untold problems, speaker broken, software freezing up and unable to get it out of sleep mode. Dio not recommend this phone at all. Follow up service by Sonim useless and are not willing to take responsibility for an inferior phone.

Bought my Sonim two years ago and yealled to the microphone few weeks before I understood to ask for a replacement. Got better one after some 5 weeks waitingtime with no phone at all. Now this replacement has been rattling for some time now with every phone call I have. It's been like I a was speking to someone with another planet or atleast with someone in opposite side of the planet. Numbers and letters on keypad have completely worn out in less than 2 years so it's very fun to try to send textmessages with the phone. Put cover film on my display so it's been staying in good gondition. Display in my first Sonim got scrathches after few weeks in normal use. I have two batteries for the phone and they both sucks. Another one sucks a bit more than another one. Lasts about 2-3 days and I don't call much. Then in some point I found out that the calender in the phone counts the weeks wrongly. If I look at the calender and it shows that we are having the week 49 at the moment, I have to try to remember to count one week off from the reading. Yes it's really weak number 48 no matter what my phone tries to tell me. This thing got so annoying, that I contacted the support for it. Got reply perhaps one year ago that they are working on it. Christ. We have all those smart phones around us, and still there is one manufacturer who cann't make a phone which would show correct weeknumber on display. And there are people out there crazy enough to buy these junks, including myself.
I've learned my lesson though. Never again. I sent email to the support center about the rattling problem one week ago and so far they haven't been so much interested about my problems, that they would have replied anything to me. Let's see.

Nice rugged phone.
NO WINDOWS 64bit DRIVERS OR SOFTWARE!!!!! and it doesnt sound like they are to concerned about it either, You have been warned
Software installed on 32bit Vista works but is a far cry from something like Nokia PC suite, needs a lot of work.
Sad really.

Ive had one for over a year and love it. I had to get an exchange once as the battery didnt last long but it arrived in 24 hours.
Only prob I have is setting up internet and email as Orange doesnt support it and have to muddle through myself.
For all that I consider it the best phone |Ive ever had.

There is now a Landrover version of this phone, same spec but with a landrover badge and start up screen, have a look at www.thephonetrader.co.uk for the full spec on the phone.

PLEASE, I would be so grateful to you if you could tell me which has the faster OS, the Quest or the Quest Pro? I am trying to decide between the two and have heard the OS is very slow in the Quest pro. I thought with you working for Sonim, you might have experience of both.

> In reply to Steve @ 2010-07-16 05:43 from wHss - click to readI have similar issues, but I tend to break mine also ( screens 3 times, once when it was in my pocket with an ipod touch with was undamaged! ) and last time I dropped a replacement one when it was less than 24 hours old, it would not power up again. First mobile wont replace it, so I have thrown nearly $1K away. I am perusing them with the CGA, but I think its tough titties to me. While the concept is great, and they are genuinely waterproof, they are not as touch as the claims, at least not for a farmer, and the UI and firmware are just terrible. A $80 nokia has far nicer UI and firmware...

Why do I see lots of Sonim phones on eBay that are MADE IN CHINA?
Here is one example (with one of the photos showing the manufacturer's sticker at the back part of the phone): http://cgi.ebay.ph/Original-So...12870wt_934.
Does Sonim outsource its phones in China or have the "Chinese pirates" had their hands on Sonim's phones again?
