Yea I agree 2... digital zoom is just used to give user a feel of zoom on the mobile screen.. on large screen like computer its just equivalent to zooming a full resolution picture... and zooming can also be done on a saved picture... so digital zoom doesnt matter at all..

I hope those who dont know about digital zoom have understood now that it doesnt matter if a mobile has a digital zoom or not.

I completely agree with your view point of Digital Zoom. That zoom is good for nothing. I am happy that someone understands the basics.

For those who are unshure about the battery life of this phone...

Battery life is exellent. it has a 970mah battery (the 970mah is the big one,cuz the small one is the battery used in w810.) i recently got this phone and it can stand 4 days standby, playing java games or accessing internet 1-2 hours, 1 hour calltime, taking many pics, using leds as flashlight and writing more than 5 sms per day.

the recent launched k550i has a very nice pricing of $230-250 USD, but the long time ago released w810i stills pricing at $250-270?

the k series is always cheaper cuz they have simpler and faster firmware.. thats why.

and why the w series are slower? cuz their firmware is designed to show animation, flash menus and other cuties.

Who cares about digital zoom or not? Thats a dumb feature. a simple explanation->

digital zoom = croping a section of the pic then expand it to desired size.

i could easily do that on my pc using paint. pics will look much better than using digital zoom.

IF U ARE REALLY GOOD AT MOBILE PHOTOGRAPHING (like me =D) u will notice how useless is digital zoom. i'd rather take a normal picture then zoom it in my pc.

hope my opinion will clear your mind desiring about buy or not buy this phone cuz of digital zoom.

also the walkman feature is useless. compare it to media player on any same class K series:

W series: media player is cute (orange or black), shows plalist when u press down key and has Megabass.

K series: media player is OK(simple and white.), and u have to look for menu to find a song. it doesnt have megabass.

i dont need megabass feature since i have a pair of very bassy earphone (shure e2g)
if u guys ever had compared a K with a W series of the same class phone (same class is..eg.: k750 & w810, k550 & w610 and so) you will notice that K series phones are faster, and they have better cameras than W's. u can verify it at www.jbenchmark.com

about to purchase the phone as birthday gift for younger brother. urgent info needed folks.

1. does the taking pictures part in the k550i similar to k750i as in ability to zooms in all picture size modes ?

2. what is the video quality compared to the k750i ?

do u even know wat a digital zoom is!!!?? and how the cameras give digital zoom in 2 MP mode or more.. if u know that u wont say this..

hie there folks,
after reading reviews after reviews bout this phone, im satisfied. i think it will replace my k750i well enough.
got a question though, can i zoom under the 2MP mode ?
in the k750i i can, unsure about this k550i.

this is not a good phone to buy because main problem i have faced is its zoom it does'nt give zoom at 2m or 1m pixel mode you can only take photographs from distance at vga mode so this is just a normal vga phone and sound is very low.

I cant decide which among the 3 to buy.SE K550,SE W810 and Nokia6300.The last one has poor battery life but screen in excellent with 16M colors.K550 seems good but I read different opinions about picture quality,battery life and sound quality.And W810 is very good with some 3000Rs more but it doesn't have any lens cover.I'm confused.
Plz help me in deciding which one will be best for me.

I have had the phone for about a week now and put it through its paces. I would say Grong's thoughts listed below are about mine exactly. The phone seems to do everything pretty well, but nothing perfectly. Overall, it is very nice to use, and somehow the 220x176 resolution screen doesn't look as bad as the k750's or w800's. I think smoother fonts account for that. Also, for those of you worried about texting: although they do take a little getting used to, the new keys SE is using are very very good for texting. I send about 20-30 texts a day and the phone keeps up very well. Overall, I would highly recommend this mobile for the price. If you really need 3G, wait for the w660...it looks pretty good.
