> In reply to Greek 99 @ 2009-07-03 11:45 from m{J4 - click to readI bought a ---W810--- as a "necessary upgrade" to my K700, but the first thing I noticed it can't display the clock in standby like k700/k750. I hate this because you can't tell if you recieved a phone call or not unless you press a button... Also, it has a similar processor speed as K700, so 2MP pictures are rendered pretty slow (3 seconds/image) and the Tracks mode in the player is very slow. A third negative thing about W810 is that when you view a SMS, to call the sender, you must press More> Call X, unlike in K700 where you naturally press down to underline the contact and call (I liked it that way). In sent sms, if you want to call the reciever, More>Details, down, Call. Unfortunately, no Java multitasking; you can't start the camera if a Java app is running.

On the good side we have an autofocus camera which produces very good results outdoors. Also, you can put a 4GB card (512MB card included in the package) and you can send/move/copy more files at once (very useful). Opera Mini works smoother than in K700. BTW, I didn't buy it for the Walkman branding, but for the SE soft and camera (and no joystick, of course :P)

If you can go over the negative stuff (my first paragraph) and buy it you won't regret.

Have it from 2004, summer.
It has dropped, say, 150 times.
Works.
Never changed battery. In the past I forgot to charge it for days. Now, it is drained, but OK.
Only problems :
a) joystick, but sometimes it is due to impatient, no calm, movements
b) software, a more serious one, cause sometimes it "mistakes" calls and contacts. Maybe it needs only to upgrade software.

Never examined an other option all this time.
Only now I'm thinking changing it, looks a little ruined, but I find no substitute.
I don't like Nokias, I don't pay money to Steve Jobs, I don't exactly trust Samsung/Motorolas etc.

Thinking of the T700, but comparing it with good-old K700 is roughly equal, except the 1000 contacts and the soundspeaker.
Thinking of the expected T715, but seems it is intended more for women, with its pink (bliahhh) colours.

I would wellcome an opinion from a K700 long time user who successfully switced recently to another phone.

used this phone for 2++ years, plus i bought it 2nd hand.

very durable.. i only change the joystick once..
hang/slow response only occur very occasionally..
the only drawback of this phone is it doesnt support memory card..

> In reply to Adrian @ 2009-06-08 18:58 from 0CaY - click to readWell, i had the same problem with my K700i. Joystick just didn't work, which limited the use of most of the features in this excellent phone. This mostly results from the large amounts of dust that get inside. Nonetheless, this issue may be fixed, either disassembling your cell phone and cleaning it (quite dangerous for the cell phone), or using 2 of the following: compressed air cans or an electronic antistatic spray (you may find them in electronics or computer stores).

I remind those of you who have problems with the joystick that the phone can be used (mainly the basic stuff, plus some advanced ones) without the joystick.

If you have a bluetooth adapter, you can fully control the phone from the PC.

I have had my k700i for like 5 years now since they came out ... I thrashed and abused it. it all these years it hung once, had to change the joystick once and got one new battery, thats it. virtually unbreakable still fast and easy to use ... will buy SE from now on because of this fone.

> In reply to sky diver @ 2009-05-12 18:10 from wHr% - click to readNo extra software? Do you have a laptop with integrated bluetooth and Windows Vista? Because my Windows XP doesn't have the drivers for my bluetooth adapter, so I had to use the drivers from the CD...

In fact, if you have a Bluetooth USB adapter you can fully use your phone by controling it from the PC. More info on http://forums.se-nse.net/index...wtopic=39877

> In reply to sania @ 2009-03-22 09:51 from PUBr - click to readYou can use the bluetooth if you connect the phone to the PC. Otherwhise you can't select the file to send, nor the reciepent.

--------------------------------------------------
For all the K700 users out there that have their joystick "out of order" they should know that EVEN WITHOUT it, you can use the keybord and you can:

- make a phone call to anyone in the phone book
- send SMS to anyone
- add a new contact
- use either the camera or the video camera, depending with which they got stuck before the joystick broke down
- play the first game in the list :P
- listen to the radio
- use mementos - tasks and calendar
- view or delete photos and videos taken by camera
*and if you have bluetooth usb adapter, than you can
- add/replace contacts or backup the whole phone book to PC
- save the SMS to the PC or upload new to phone
- download/upload files to phone

So the phone isn't completly useless without the joystick as you can do the basics ;)
