I visited a Phones4U in Hove (near Brighton, England) and got to play with a K800i. Comments: a) Excellent fit and finish, except the keypad, but it's not terrible. b) Surprise feature of two function buttons at top (next to video call camera), that on this phone displayed the last photo taken and the photo viewer. c) Camera operates like a regular digicam, only negative being that as far as I could tell, you cannot FORCE the flash on, something that is important to reduce shadows when shooting portraits into the sun. It's nice to just slide the lense cover to fire up the camera. Very cool! d) GUI is very fast. e) Predictive text is smart, even guessing the NEXT word you are going to type based on the last one you entered! (Spooky!) f) On the Vodafone model, the two small buttons either side of the joystick are for placing and making a call, not the same as shown on web pics. (Great!) g) Deal at Phones4U is £40/m for 500 mins, 250 texts and Stop the Clock. I don't work for any of the above companies, just reporting direct from the battlefield. Unless SE P990 arrives, I'm getting one of these sexy puppies.

to crix the same i say to you :don't talk if you are a noob
the so is not the same in k800 as it is in the d500
the k800 hase by far the most advancet java so in the mobile comunaty
it suports setings for camera wich you only find in cameras like exposure setings(wich belive if you know what you are doing the expouser seting isss wondorul)and you can control evrey aspect of your camera
and let's not forget than now it is posible to multi task (this is a first for a java phone)
i can't belive that people stil buy stuff with out knoyng a single thing about it
java games are at lest the same if not beter as the ones in the symbian phonesprograms is posible to instal in both tipes but the symbians are more advancet and browsing both tipe of phones are very god at browsing

SE K800. to me its a bog standard phone with a decent camera. WOW! Take the camera away and tell me what it can do what the N80 cant. The menu system is just like my D500. The n80 is far superior, apart for the camera and the battery life. Am not a fan of either phones but the N80 comes on top for me

@ Dr
Thanks for your sharing. And have you tried the same use with K800 that you do with N80? If with N 80 twice/day so how is K800?

Also another proof of the picture size for the SE K800i is that the availabe memory on my phone is 58mb and it says 70 photos left on the 3.2 Megapixel fine settine, thus 58mb/70 photos equals 830 Kb average size of a photo!!!

Just to proove that the Nokia Nt0 photos in landscape mode are better, i saw that the average file size of a picture taken is 1500kb - 2450kb for the Nokia N80, while for the sony ericsson K800i the average file size of a picture taken
was 750kb - 1300kb, and both phones were on 3 Megapixel and picture quality was fine!!!!!

Hi Everyone
Following earlier comments from, I would like to add more:

The camera is very disappointing only macro mode, and when u use flash the picture becomes a little bit blurred.

No image stabilizer it is only a video stabilizer which has no function at all, took 2 videos one with it on and the other off, result: no difference at all!

Picture quality is equal to Nokia N80 or even the same! except macro mode is impressive in the K800i

I am honest, i love sonyericsson and had the k750, W800i and W810i but the K800i should have been better.!!!!

"the flash of the k800 its not that useful in night just with close pictures, if you want to take pics for a wide area it will not work that nice, only if the room its in total darkness"
evean a profesional camera can't take good pictures in low light with flash
if there is total darknes it will work perfect(this is normal evean for a profesional camera with a very very strong flash)

@gv

I read in many review and comments that the battery life from N80 is very short. How is with your experience?
I read also that SE K750 and W800 are very good about battery life with their features. I don't know how is the management battery in this K800.
For me if I must charge everyday, I cannot except that, but maybe for other persons that is no problem.

Couldn"t believe it this morning i got the K800i ,the phone looks o.k just a bit bigger than the K750i,the buttons are really soft to touch, but my joystick leans a bit to the left an dust can easily get round it,i am going to try it out for a couple of days an then make the correct decision either keep it or send it back, the ringtones aren"t very loud ,but the cameras superb an easy to use an the flash is really bright,an the mobiles not heavy an only had to charge for 1 hour to get running o.k,i will let people know if to get the K800i or N73
