Hi Querty =)
Yes, the two buttons beside the ear speakers are functional buttons used for camera mode operation when camera is active. you can also use it to view photos

There is hope for joystick problems!
Had K750i for almost a year. Heavy gaming (1-2 hrs/day). After 7 months the joystick started to malfunction. Studied the problem and found the solution: just blow with your lips or a special air spray around the joystick and the dust particles that are causing the malfunction will be removed or at least moved and the joystick funcionality will surely improve. Just try!

If you buy this phone outright and unlocked(with no included SIM) - will it work with any normal 2G/2.5G SIM that you put in it?
or will it **ONLY** work with a "special" 3G SIM?
Anyone know?

Ben,
I have both K800 & N73, I think the joystick for n73 rather stiff than k800. In term of camera quailty, k800 better because day or night no problem taking very good photos with the real digicam flash. My n73 hanged several after used for a week and so far k800 hanged once.
What I liked most on N73 is the dual stereo speakers on top & below the phone really solid but k800 speaker a bit disappointing even my wife K750i sound better. The design of N73 not nice, long and keypad very close and small. K800 front nice but back also bad.
I can't figure how to open the battery cover for K800 as it was tight and surface very slippery (no grip). Anyone out there can advise. Thanks

Hi Dave =)
i think its the bug that this K800i has on the phone book entry. try to add a photo on that contact as well and i think the photo will not appear too when he calls...
Im assuming that the contact you're trying to set the ringtone is stored on your SIM contacts too.
try to delete that person from your SIM contact and just save him in your PHONE contact memory. im guessing that his name will not appear when he calls even if its stored in your phone contacts... its just the number that will appear.
If this is the case, its the bug in K800i.
if that is not the case, try to choose another ringtone for your buddy.

i noticed someone was talking about the joystick on this phone, i previously had the k750 and after 6 months had to get rid of it because the joystick had gone, i went to a d600 and now i have noticed that the k800i is out with the same joystick so i strongly recommend not getting a sony ericsson with a joystick i have just changed my phone again and went for a nokia n73 instead of the k800i this one has a joystick but nokia know how to put there phones together.i hope this information is usefull.

if you want a phone that can:
Play music
Make phone calls
Take superb pictures
BUY a K800i
one problem - the music player on the K800i is not as user friendly as my W800i

SUPERB mobile phone one of the best on the market, all other 3MP camera phone on the market are just gimmicks, this take true high quality pictures that is very pleasing to the eye, also the joystick is better than the my previous k750i because its more responsive.
