While comparing NOKIA and Sony Ericsson mobile devices, we should do consider some realities and never forget to realize that both manufacturers have different approach to address the market and both have different cult to target their audiences as well as customers. First and the foremost key differentiators between the two is NOKIA manufactures the best communication devices with all aspects but SONY ERICSSON's distinction is offering the best and maximum multimedia capabilities. Secondly, NOKIA already attains a very wide customers base and each of the proposed or the offered product is meant for an entirely a different class of people e.g. See the difference b/w 3250 and N91 both are Musical devices but one is for those who are not well to do and they care least about what they carry in their hands but they just need maximum set of functions in one device and that even on very low cost and the other one is for those who not only need maximum possibilities but also very much conscious about the class to which they belong and they do believe their mobile set should depict the class to which they belong. Now if you look at SONY ERICSSON, although here too you find different classes of its proposed or the offered products but its classification of sets is not based on the purchasing power of the people but on the basis of people' current inclination and on their choices. Looking on SONY's wide range of Multimedia products and its capability in different multimedia devices including Digital cams and best TVs with unique color screens and very nice sound quality, its Walkmans etc, it seems SONY is on its way to decrease the production and wants to provide all these segments into Mobile Phones. Then all of us know it very well that before entering into business with SONy, Ericsson was never good in offering good mobile devices rather due to their poor reception quality, bad battery timing and very low standard other capabilities though those were maximum as today, was totally a failure. Hence, comparing SONY ERICSSON with NOKIA shall always lead us conclude SE as the winner but not as a good phone but as one of the best multimedia devices. NOKIA on the other hand, always comes with new experiemnts and even if this comes with any innovation with respect to multimedia, it's always risk for it but whatsoever the aspect of communication you take into account, NOKIA spells over and no doubt this is what that makes it as the best MOBILE PHONE and this is what has sustained it as a TRUE market Leader. Hence, to cut the long story short, NOKIA is the best in comunication but SONY ERICSSON spells over in terms of its multimedia capabilities and really really innovative, genuine and truly pretty n glamourous design.

to Andrew,
since noone has yet answered your question-
There a few differences 1 is a 2mp camera in the w800 and a 3.2mp camera in the k800 and gives you a xenon flash which makes it a way better quality photo!
The w800, where i'm from so dont know if its everywhere was the first walkman branded phone, bringing erricsson and sony walkman together, giving you a 512mb memory card in the w800 vs a 64 INTERNAL memory for the k800(but does have a slot to increase with memory stick micro)
The new k800 also has usb version 2.0 which is a faster data transfer speed.
Thats the easiest way to compare without going into detail, i like to think the w800 is for focus on big music lovers (and people who like orange!) where the k800 is an all rounder.
Does that give you what you wanted Andrew?

what if SE switch it's OS from SYmbian to PALM or WINDOWS? will it be a good move i think yes. PALM and WINDOWS are far more better than symbian and they are all the best os for pocket computers and even at slower processing it will work fast unlike symbians which drains much, much battery... and it will be a very good battle between SE and NOKIA, WINDOWS/PALM OS vs Symbian OS.

For the guy who post N83 link therE...
NOKIA's are too desperate in making perfect phones and expect a very bulky, buggy, and lagging device

Sony Ericsson better start realising people do not want to keep buying memory cards all the time every new phone they are making have different types of cards on there mobiles,i bought a 512mb car for my K750i now with this phone i need a cpmpletely new sort of card if they do not included one with the package with this mobile, they have done it on the k610i as well so why can"t each mobile producer stick to there one single card that will work on any mobile we people have to buy!

Nokia keeps producing buggy phones and firmware will be corrected many month after how stupid those are... theyre just making money unlike SE who brings innovation models without bugss... p800,p900,p910 and the upcoming p990 people says SE dont have experience in making symbians i tink nokia fans are too blind to say nokia are experts in Symbians who always hurry everything and the result? annoying errors. SE makes very reliable symbian handsets that even late when introduced to market, becomes the best phone ever made. and i don't think Nokia n73 will be cheaper than k800... guysss open your eyes, does Carl-zeiss and symbian 9.1 cost that only cheap... No way maybe again hurried tactics to earn money and stability will be a very big issue. for that. don't judge the phone by it's great features but great quality...

Ok... good camera quality, but I love Nokia N73. It's a beautiful phone, this one looks like a black strange little boring thing! It's an ugly design. At least is better than w800, the most horrible phone ever made.

To hunar,if you have noticed W810 has just been released few weeks ago.Therfore the release of K800 might be delayed for about one month or after the full release of the primarily N-series(80-71-92).

SE fans
the only hindrance that stops SE for making the best phone is the development of OS. but once that SYMBIAN 9.1 of SE hits the market then SE will be able to start a bomb that will throw all NOKIA phones out of the water... (i didin't say it's p990 but it has a potential right admit it UIQ have more reliable functions than S60 i can give you many reasons why i say that.) SE fans just trust SE developers and surely they will bring a bomb for n93... SE we always trust your products truly.
Now that n73 have been introduced many k800 lovers leave k800 behind for that phone, but once that n73 got bugs or stability problems and k800 proved to be the best camera and music phone shame on all they man... yes time will tell us. but even now i smell k800 will win trust SE not NOKIA who hurries everything...
