Dear James,
the price of this phone is $ 633 since they released it in Dubai for KD 180 (Kuwait Dinars) so it will be around $ 633
and for the touch screen button in the bottom of the screen, people are mixing between this model and W 960 which has a touch screen like the P1i
i hope my feedback is useful to you guys
Enjoy,

I've had a play with a prerelease model and I'll say some pros and cons:
Pros:
+ Big, clear, brilliant screen. I love it and it's great for displaying pics etc.
+ Gallery viewer is really cool, although the animation was a bit choppy but maybe that was b/c it was a test phone
+ Excellent camera and video recording
+ Navigation pad and number keys surprisingly good and easy to use
+ Fast menus
Cons:
- Touch buttons are very buggy, I found myself going to the wrong menus over and over when it registers twice or not at all. This is also problematic when taking photos
- Whoever said about the navigation pad and middle button is right, pressing up does often mean the middle button gets activated, very annoying
- No infrared, yes I know its old technology etc but when I buy a phone I like to see as many connectivity options as possible, this is a big letdown and wouldnt have cost much to put in
- I prefer a manual lens cover to auto
I wont buy this one as I really hate the touch buttons. If SE can come out with a more decent, fully featured 5mp model I will get it , till then i'm sticking with the K810i.

In my humble opinion, touch sensitive buttons are not the way forward for any mobile phone. I've tried various phones with touch sensitive buttons and they always turn out to be a pain. I agree with other comments made that better video quality is expected from this type of phone, and a good quality tft screen. I'm not sure that I like the keypad on the K850. The buttons appear to be very small and would cause me problems typing text messages. The buttons on the nokia 6300 are just about right. Anything smaller that that and my big thumbs are always hitting 2 buttons at once. Come on SE sort out your buttons and your video quality.

SAMSUNG G600 is a simple GSM phone. Forget HSDPA; this phpone doesn't have 3G Network capability. It doesn't have any special Bluetooth technology as it also supports A2DP Profile which Sony Ericsson included years before from W800i.

The D-pad and number keys are nice on this phone but the touch sensitive buttons are terrible. You press up on the D pad and very often you also activate the central touch button. That ruins a good phone for me. I'm a big SE fan but I just wish they thought the design out better of such a high end phone

i dont care about the screen color.,
i think i'll change my k800i when sony ericsson release a camero phone that can record VGA resolution video., it's a real shame that sony which is the best when making electronic devices looses to nokia which has no experties in terms on e. gadgets

The K850 does not have a touch screen as such, however it does have "touch sensitive" buttons below the screen (the white dots you can see) much like the LG Chocolate phone. Another cool feature is the fact that the menu will tilt when you rotate the phone.

As you know the manufacture suggested retail price (MSRP) will not be available until Sony Ericsson actually release it to the publice. But dealers, distributor, wholesaler and importer always get their hands on them before the release date, so for that reason, the price around you hear $500-700 are set by them purposely to make a quick buck based on supply and demand situation. Most of the people assume Sony jacked up the price at first and quickly drop in value which is not true. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I work for a large mobile phone company and our Sony Ericsson rep paid us a visit recently. Lucky for us, he managed to grab a K850i and a W910i for us to see before he had to take them back at the end of the day. Both of these handsets are gorgeous and will be by far the top of the table for the fourth quarter of the year going strong into 2008. My personal favourite is the K850i. The camera looks brilliant, i personally can't see the difference compared to the N95. The screen is huge on both handsets and the touch sensitive screen on the K850i is easy to use and doesn't get in the way like most touch sensitive phones. Theres so much good to say about theses two handsets, especially the K850i but i'll leave it here. Safe to say i'll be getting mine when they are released in the next 4-5 weeks near the end of October!
