Sony Ericsson K850 - user opinions and reviews

Sony Ericsson

this is the begining of sony rule on mobiles because when this handset comes out everyone with n95 will want to swap theres for one and the same with the samsung g600. and for those people that talk about the n95 8 gb it will have loads of momory with will make it brake even more than the normal one plus the word is that this will take the 8gb memory card that sony are developing but you could buy more than one as it has a card slot plus after using the k810 k800 and n95 the camara on this will blow everything out the water becuase the 810 was nearly as good as the n95 for images as the software was faster the color was better and the flash worked in small spaces with out blurring the image cannot wait to get mine

SEF
For those who didn't know K850 has Music Player 3.0 which functionally identical to the walkman 3.0(with only the exclusion of SenseMe feature) such as Shaker, Animated Album art Visualization and Megabass. and also uses the new Media Browser that resembles Sony PSP's GUI in other words, It's the second unofficial Walkman-Cybershot Hybrid phone like the 2 year old SE W900 :)
----------------------------------------------

The K series from SE are the one that sets the standard. The W series simply follow. That is not to say that the W series are not good. But the K series are not 'unnofficial Walkman phones'!
The W800 follwed the K750 which as far as am concerned was a benchmark at the time.

Regarding the debate about the N95:

As somebody rightly said, jack of all trade but master of none!
Ask me, av had it! my k800 is loads better! SE all the way mate! Nokia will be ousted as number 1 pretty soon! There symbian OS sucks big time!

K850 can also be used as a GPS handset with the use of the destinated special hands free,
TV out will be also available, adding an extra cost and high quantity memory sticks will be available soon.
This phone will be the platform of SE's devices in the near future, it is the next step forward,
but i m surprised to see SE coming in so late after competition, usually SE leads and competition follows...

if anyone of you have actually seen this hp, can you please tell me about the navigation keypad. from the pix it's seems to be the greenish thingy surrounding the numbers 2 and 5. doesn't it feels awkward? thanks!

this should be the best S/E handset ever.

TO NICK: yeah but i'm shure that your n95 like the 100% of the n95 in the market have this:

1)the audio cuality(headphones)is horrible
2)the slider crak's
3)the battery life is just a .... bad thing
5)the ram is just to little
6) man, 8 secons to take and proces the picture taked whit the camera is tOOO slow
and if you zoom in the picture will see that the details are low

Oh yeah pj$1 i meant to say that the N95 does not kick this fone's arse:
`It's just not as good as the N95. I have the N95, what software issues?! mine doesnt crash or anything. and this hardly "kicks nokia arse"`
My cousin has a N95 and his has crashed 3 times and the UI is very slow - the menus are sluggish and disorganised. N95 has wi-fi which is really the only thing missing on this fone. but with wi-fi activated u'd b lucky to get 4hrs of standby time. also the N95 has GPS, but who cares about that. its not that good for the freeware - it is inaccurate, and if you want a decent real time movement you have to pay - a lot. adn it would kill the battery. Its better off getting a proper sat nav.
The K850i has a better camera for takin pictures, (dnt deny tht) as the camera layout, buttons, LED + Xenon flash, asnd lens quality are far superior and mre professional and easier to use. (the menu even shows you what each of the options in the menu are for.), but is not as good as takin vid as the N95, but who cares about that. if you selected the high quality video all the time you would only have room for about 5mins of video (internal memory only, as 1min of high quality video takes up 20Mb storage and the N95 storage is 120Mb - 6mins gone!
Also, the K850i is much sleeker and looks much nicer. the navigation is faster [no slow symbian - sluggish] and easier than the N95's and the battery is far better - my cousin has to charge it daily with moderate use - calls, texts, few pics and a couple of mins surfin the web.
The K850i is also much cooler. It has a auto rotate feature (accelerometer), which is very convenient. But how cool is that?? And it also has heat sensitive soft keys - which is cool. Furthermore, it has a dual memory card slot and battery all in one compartment which slides out of the bottom of the fone like a true digicam.
So the K850i is better designed (nothing on this fone will break from wear&tear - no joystick, no slide fone [which makes creaky noises over time *N95*], is cooler, more responsive and is more user friendly than the N95. So do not say that this fone hardly kicks N95 arse. I do not dislike Nokia but i feel that this fone is just not capable of perfoming the features it has effectively, and it just doesnt have the quality of the K850. How can you justify its price as well??
The only things that are missing from this fone is an infrared port (but they're getting outdated and i wont reli miss that), however I will admit that it definately lacks wi-fi which would have been nice. apart from that this fone is utterly... superb, and of course, it a Sony Ericsson!
What do all of you think?? Btw, pj$1, peace :D ;)

btw, jus like to say that the fone is quadband on GSM networks only but not on UTMS networks as there is only 3 at present. So therefore its got all the noetworks:
QUADBAND - GSM
TRIBAND - UTMS
gsmarena might want to change that. superb fone. Cheers

Want to know how this phone will top every version Nokia comes out of their N95? (lol, it's like their trademark that they've stolen from Motorola, making the same kind of phone with only one thing better like the 3,5,6,7,8 series.)

This and every other new SE W/K arrivals, will not fail in as many aspects as the 'heightened' N and MusicExpress (or whatever it is) series. Like battery life, ergonomics with dedicated music button (you can't just move your finger over to it, most of the time, you'll have to contort your hand to reach the buttons), menu loading time, freezes, internet loading time and quality of material. The inside is not suppose to be dependant of itself to be solid. The whole thing has to be one, so that's why SE usually doesn't have face plates to make sure that the whole phone is solid.

Reading About ...

Some Version of this will have a DVB-H tuner;
This Also Comes With an XMB interface similar to that of the PS3/PSP ... methinks this will be rebadged as the sony Playstation fone near Christmas (with a gamin interface ... thumbstick over the nav pad mayb??);
