Anonymous, 23 Jul 2008First thing you'll need are extra BST-40 batteries since the P1i is a battery hog! Also, a ... moreregarding the games, there's actually already 700+ games for P1i already cracked and offered for free in some sites if you know where to find it. google is your bestfriend in this matter ^_^

I know how to 'Master Reset' thru control panel>other. I have done manytimes like this but no use. I will wait for winter to be over and the present temperature is below 15c in my place.let me check the battery performance during summer as it was performing well in dry season with old firmware. If it doesn't improve i have to blame the firmware only. I am very much cautious while charging the phone and i dont over charge the battery at anymoment. I am typing this msg through opera mini4.1. Battery has gone down by 3percent in just 10min.it shows its poor battery backup. The same battery used to lost for 2days with old firmware.thanks for the opinions. Any more suggestions regarding battery performance is most welcome.
Anonymous, 13 Jul 2008unfortunately, you cant record phone conversations. But, "swmail" is working on an application... moreI did read somewhere that a user created a shortcut to the voice recorder.
He would receive a call then press the voice recorded shortcut and the call would then be recorded!
Havent' tried it myself so I can verify this but it sound Interesting!
Be careful though that some jurisdictions do not allow calls to be recorded!
mo, 14 Jul 2008i can not send mms or email as attachment on this phone got it last week..do i have to install... moreYou need to get the settings from either SE or, better, from your cell phone company so you can use mms/email!
Some phone companies can send a signal to your phone so it can update the settings automatically.
The phone doesn't have the settings, by default, and must be configured before usage!
wzn_so_amateur, 16 Jul 2008okay..thanx danding.
i know they are different, just wanna know, does P1 have sound quality a... moreThe music playback quality is pretty good!
Unfortunately, the media player software is not! IMHO, This phone will NEVER replace the iPod!
The controls are all "soft keys" and difficult to manage esp. if you listen to audiobooks!
You need to use the stylus for precise movement for using Forward/Reverse which is TERRIBLE!
If all you need is to listen to casual music, then any SE phones with the media player will actually do!
The only other problem is that SE phones require you to use their headsets (which aren't that good!) or buy a 3.5mm adaptor so you can use your own headphones!
But if you really like to listen to music and audiobooks, then buy a separate mp3 player/iPod!
Remember that the P1i is really a PDA not a music phone like the "W" series. Even then, the "W" series phones won't replace a decent mp3 player/iPod!
x, 20 Jul 2008can someone help me..i have p1 but my problem with it is..it drains my battery fast..after a f... moreYou should turn OFF Wifi, bluetooth, GPS and set backlight to 50-60% as you have TOO many settings ON which is sucking up the battery life!
Just remember to turn OFF any settings that you don't really use to help conserve the battery!
Also, cycle the battery down to it's lowest (i.e. 5-10%) before charging to peak capacity.
Trying updating the firmware which may or may not help!
I noticed that many users are posting ~2-3 days usage with most settings OFF while using primarily the phone. It's not good compared to battery life on other SE phones but considering that the P1i is really a PDA, it's "decent".
SE needs to update the firmware for better battery power conservation!
Lastly, only thing left to do is buy more batteries! Hah!

I've used the phone ONLY for calls with Wifi OFF and rarely use the media player and the needs recharging every ~2-3 days!
The phone is a battery hog even with the BST-40 battery! Imagine what the battery life is using the BST-33 battery that it was "suppose" to use before SE switched it over to the BST-40 battery?
SE really needs to work on power management on their "P" series phones!
airborne, 22 Jul 2008all the specs about this phone is good except that it does not contain EDGE. thats what shakin... moreThe P1i DOES work on the EDGE network which is primarily used in the USA.
The P1i phone does offer 3G even though it's stated in the specs! Can't even get the setting in the phone to use 3G and it's imported from Europe where 3G is available!!

Also, a 3.5mm adapter would be needed if you intend to use the media player but prefer to use your own headphones. A MIC adapter attached to the 3.5mm adapter would be better. The included headset isn't that good.
The phone will accept the 8GB microSD card even though it "officially" accepts up to 4GB. The transfer rate to the card is very slow via USB!
You'll also need to buy more styluses as the SE ones are "cheap" quality and break easily.
Make sure you update the firmware since the update makes the O/S smoother.
There's not too many "games" for the P1i but more utility softwares so you'll have to search online for games! There are many websites that offer "free" themes and such but you'll have to decide whether those items can be trusted or not!
i recently got the p1i after weeks of looking thru its specs which realy got me more excited to purchase the phone, now i got the phone im a bit disapointed on how hard to find the right set up to get it working. can you guys please give some adviced.

Never overcharge your battery, thats one of the reason why it would get destroyed. Overcharging doesnt make your battery store a lot of energy, on the contrary, it would deteriorate the capacity of the battery to retain energy.
Would somebody please tell me what`s the latest firmware for this phone.I bought one yesterday but could not find contacts. It`s empty.Firmwarw in it ends with 004 .Any help please. Thank you very much.
bhai hard format your p1i.
i am on the same firmware and my Mobile is giving the battery bakup of almost 2 days after huge usage of SMS. And always check taskmanager for hidden applications running, that drains the battery very fast.
It happens sometimes with my p1i and lovely p990i, that abnormally the battery drains completely in an hour...
the best step is remove battery and keep it for 15 minutes, and then put for charge...everything will be to normal.
SE rules...Use Nokia, and I am sure you will be fedup, same way I was 4 yrs back.
Tokx(T.), 22 Jul 2008heres a tip,if ur bat drains faster..set the brightnes either 50-60% off wifi off gprs and blu... moreI always keep bluetooth and wifi disabled on my phone.brightness is set to 62% already. I have drained my battery completely twice in the last week and over charged it for 4hrs. But improvement is not significant. I can feel the difference in battery performance before and after firmware update. Thats the reason why i am blaming firmware for poor battery performance. SE should do something in this regard before customers move to some other phones like Nokia E71 etc. I liked sony ericsson p1i for its amazing battery backup and multitasking capabilities. But new firmware R9K009 has disappointed me a lot in two issues such as battery and predictive text which are behaving abnormally. Hope SE is listening to us. P1i is my alltime favourite and better than Nokia in performance n multitasking.
