i was interested in buying the p1i but wanted more information... because i use outlook a lot and like to have the upcoming appointments, tasks, to-do list, etc on the main screen (just like the nokia N series or any windows smartphone). does the p1i allow this? if not is it possible to download a theme which will allow this? any advice would be much appreciated.. thanks

What is the difference between HSDPA and UMTS? Could P1i be also used as modem for desktop PC? I'm still confused if this phone serves the purpose. If it does, I gonna buy it.

This phone is perfect. Had mine for one month. Has some trouble with connection by wifi but i got it through. The only problem with this phone maybe that if you keep using the wifi, and listen to music, you will deplete the battery in two days. and it wun charge till it's 100%. does anybody knows how to solve it?

@ Amit Ray
there's a phone lock option in the P1i without the need to go back to the main screen. You need to use the stylus though..
just tap the two triangles on the top left part of the screen (right beside the signal indicator). It acts like the "start" menu in windows. There you'll see the LOCK KEYS option.
That's it.
Cheers!

@ Faryal Shakeel
Hi!
Yep, it's really bothersome that the P1 software is still buggy like the P990. Would have liked it more if it was rock solid like the P910. But i think that the software is improving & we'll just have to live with its bugs for now. The stability of P910 wasn't really carried over to the P990 & the P1 mostly because the P990 & the P1 are using a different operating system as compared to the P910. the new Symbian 9.2 coupled with the new UIQ 3.1 does bring some early bugs. (Just like Vista right?)
anyhow, the P1 is quite stable right now so its kinda great for me. =)
Version R9H004 - they say not a lot of improvements were made, just that you can create longer notes & emails. nothing more though, so im sticking with R9G007.
P.S. There's a new update for P1i
Phone: R9J005
CDA : R6F38
No news on improvements though coz its still relatively new.
Cheers!

A lot of people complain about the txt files not being able to open more than 80kb I had the same problem on my M600i I couldn't read any type of book unless I split the files.
The problem is not the phone but the program.
Download another txt file program the with the phone slows down typing after 1 page. Get "word to go" for bigger docs with pictures.

Oh yes, another thing I remembered. It'd be nice to have a facility of locking the keyboard and touchscreen from anywhere, like you could do on a K800i using the power button. Now if I am in the middle of writing a message and need to attend to something else, I need to save the message, come back to the main screen and lock the phone. This is a bit of a pain; It'd have been great if I could lock it on the message screen itself. Guess this is a software-only issue, and can be solved with an upgrade later.

I liked the design and specs on this phone. But like many others here on this forum, I too was worried about the strange type of QWERTY keyboard this has. I did go ahead and get the phone, so thought I'd share my opinion on it.
Yes, a standard phone keypad (like on K800i) saves space, but needs multitap or the help of predictive text (which also involves more key presses to select the right word sometimes).
A full QWERTY keyboard like on Blackberry 8800 would obviously be the fastest to use. But it makes the phone wider.
The new style keyboard seen on P1i is the best of both worlds. It's saving space and at the same time giving u a very fast way of writing. Yes, as some say, it does take time to get used to, especially after years of using a 9-key keypad. But honestly, after about 2 weeks of having the P1i, I am totally comfortable with its keyboard.
So there you go. If you like everything else about this phone, go for it. You'll get used to the keyboard quite easily. And anyway, u have onscreen keyboard and handwriting recognition too.
As I said, I like the specs and the general look and feel of this phone. Only things I'd like to see on it's successor is a trackball like on Blackberry 8100 Pearl instead of the jogdial, and a proper xenon flash. (Prev phone was K800i, took great pics in dark).
