Had the phone for almost 4 months now and im still amazed. Its all about treating your device. Great features wifi, good cam, 3G, touchscreen... boy, that's smart.
I have been waiting for this phone since it was announced. I got impatient & bought Nokia N73 instead. The only thing I love about N73 is the small size & the camera & speaker quality. But recently, my battery has been draining. I fully charge it in the morning & by the end of the day, it's dead! Without even using the phone at all (not even for a phone call nor writing text messages!).
My point is, I am so ready to change from N73 to SE P990i but my only worry is that I am a MAC user. I no longer use Windows/PC. Can anybody help me with this? Can I still transfer files using bluetooth without syncing the phone?
How do I download applications, etc. using bluetooth?
Is there anybody who owns a P990i user who uses MAC OS X???
I need help BADLY.
This phone is the best of it's class. I have it for 10 days and did not have a single problem with it. GREAT STUFF!!! Recommended!

I've tried all mobile OS on earth, palmos, windows ppc&sp,symbian, uiq.i recommend treo 680&750v for one-handed use.if ur main use is multimedia, then keep ur 990,no one's better.then htc tytn is a very good option if u dont mind sliding out large keyb all the time.and nokia e60 is a very good one with nice bright colorful screen, very good browser, big keyb, but no touchscr,no camera.
Hello all, can anyone verify weather I can use my old backups (entire phone) from my Sony P910i on my P990i? If not is there a way that I can open the backup file and view the info e.g. contacts, numbers, files etc?
browse through the forum pages and you will know how to download the latest firmware
Hi, i am using P990 for 1 month. This is a good phone compairing to my privious P910i. The camera is good. But it may have some bugs in the softwear.
Can any body tell me from where i can download the lateast farmwear updates?
dont worry, goto main menu-tools-control panel-device-backlight-set AUTO to Handheld as well as Car holder. It works.
thats why i dont buy orange phones anymore because of the irritating sidebar,,it was on the samsung d600 then on my orange c500,,c550 so i give up..Got mine on voda & its only on the r5 software at moment but its not bad & does crash but is helped by the 15 second power button hold down,,& i"ll upgrade it wen have good bit of freetime and computer is free,,Still a fantastic device its just some people dont give it chance ,,i took a good while to get used to it & now its even better & as for size i think its damn well pocketable even in my jeans wereas the n80 was bulky & kept opening up & on that note the keylock is just as effective as it is on my w900i...I have put earlier about the five way jogwheel & miss it but once you adapt to the button underneath as a back buuton it fine
Hello.I have just bought this phone and it's wonderful, but I have one question:why won't the display backlight turn itself off when charging?Does any of you know how I can turn it off? Thanks
To Mr. Anon, I totally understand what you've experienced. My problems with O2 weren't of the same magnitude but still fairly irritating - I had to change from consumer to business connection and lost all my loyalty points and had to buy the phone from scratch despite having bills in excess of 120GBP per month. However, I did get my handset less than 5 days later and am fairly pleased with it. No bugs as yet, touching timber. I looked at the HTC model but the lack of the qwerty keypad was a major negative as mobile email is a key feature for me (hence changing from O2 consumer to O2 business who offer larger data tariffs). I still prefer O2 because, working abroad a lot, I've never had a coverage issue with them in the past, which was a big problem when I used to be with T-mobile about 2-3 years back. Maybe things have changed since...I don't care to check. Ultimately the O2 blue branding is far more manly than the pink of T-Mobile. T-Mobile is for nancy-boys...

I would strongly recommend you leave 02 as they are an incompetent bunch of fools. After telling me my P990 was on its way, I was happy. After 2 days it never came, and was told it would be with me the following day. No phone, rang them again to be told they could not trace my order. Placed the order again, no phone, rang back to be told there was no order and that if I wanted the P990 it would cost me £149 (no charges mentioned previously).
Needless to say I told them to stick their contract, ordered a HTC P3300 from T-Mobile with free sat nav (they call it the MDA Compact 3), it was delivered the next day and was the best decision I ever made. It pi55es on the P990i from a great height, and the service I received from T-Mobile has so far been superb. I will never give another penny to 02 they are an unprofessional incompetent shower of shyte.
you cannot remove the orange sidebar on the orange p990i, also the rss feeds will not work
If you have fat fingers you have 2 options:
(a) Don't buy this phone
for people who always cry and are never happy, just get a life. Its an awesome phone and a great device. The business card scanner is an awesome feature and the access to the web is simply mindblowing. Please use it as a PDA and not your hifi laptop. After all it is a phone which offers you so many features and benefits. For those who are not happy just cut the crap and scrap off your phones. Somewhere in the bottom of your heart, you guys too love your phone. No other manufacturer has a better touch screen device than our own beautiful p990i. With some more latest software updates in the pipeline, there's no reason why i shouldn't be using it atleast for the next 2 years.
I used to own the P900 and currently the P910.
I've also got the wife on the SE bandwagon by buying her a M600i (and learnt the new OS on that while setting it up for her ) .
Recently I managed to take a P990 out for an extended trial.
#1: 5 way jog dial became 3 way jog dial . Same as M600i. The 5 way jog dial is the singular most useful tool on P910 - this is a whole leap backwards and make the dial... ordinary!
#2: On the P910 you could ignore the useless keyboard when it was flipped open & just use the UIQ input. Operated my P900 with the flip totally. On the P990, the flip is a worthless block on the worthless keyboard (unless you wanted to break your fingers - did they do any usability studies ? )
- IMO they should dump the Keyboard and just put the Numeric keypad there.
There, that's it. 2 usability functions, everything else I could handle.
Shame as I loved P-series before this phone.
Everything time I see the useless keyboard my blood pressure boils, and if by reflex I tried to use the 2 missing motions of the Jog dial I go insane. I've decided to forego the aggravation and returned the unit.
Shame, shame, shame on SE for this and for kicking me out of my comfort zone!
Anyone has a better phone to recommend?
