I herd today that there are plans for a P1000.
has anybody else herd this or is it a nasty rumor
We all know that P990i had just launched (3 or 4 months ago?) in the market, but SE should really announce as early as next month the successor of P990i what it looks like (particuarly its features) as NOKIA's N95 will be available early next year. I just hope next P-series won't take another year just like what happened for P990i (after P910i).

That's the latest firmware which I have the same one. I understand R9 version is coming up very soon.
Please post here if anyone knows that the latest firmware version is already available so we could update ours too.
I've got the latest firmware when I bought my unit. It works perfectly EXCEPT formatting of memory card. Formatting is a very straight-forward command but it does not work on my unit. I formatted my new 2GB through my laptop and then I transferred all the data from the 64MB memory card (supplied with the unit) to my new 2GB memory card and it works.
Does anyone from this group had experienced this problem? How to fix this? It's not that really a big deal but much better if I can format (or reformat) my memory card through my unit.
thanx ravi .....
well i also wana knoe if this phone can be used as webcam with my laptop.......
hi buddy i just wana buy this phone and wana knoe if this phone can be used as a webcam....
Its finally great to come on this forum and own this phone! May I take this opportunity to apologise to everyone for all my moaning and impatience! but 02 and Sony Ericsson have taken the pi*s with phone!
Anyway I''ve got the p990 on Orange now and Im chuffed it does everything it was supposed to and there are no major problems..whats all the crazy talk of it crashing over and over?? ok I had one crash but that was my fault I was tryin to download a huge video e-mail using my WLAN connection!!! As I say the WLAN is amazing with my Sky broadband wireless connection I mean I can surf the net on my phone whenever for free wonderful! Actually does anyone know how can we use MSN or Yahoo messenger on the p990? Im not sure either!
The camera is brilliant and it fantastic to have a phone with a big screen again - i was using a S700i and W550 before this and they are no comparison! Overall im chuffed i got the phone for free with Orange and I got a great contract so FCUK o2 after they messed me around! Business Card scanner? Never will use it but boy of boy what a thing to show off the power of this device!
Using the p990 in the last few days reminds me of when I 1st got my p900..its a new thing and Im gettin used to all the stuff! But when you learn it and it becomes a simple process to access all the options the phone will be unbeatable!!! I jus hope they dont make a p1000 yet I dont wanna go through wat I did waiting for this handset!
I think I need to invest in a larger memory stick and im using my p900 carry case as for some reason we werent supplied with one - wat a scam?! lol Otherwise as I say happy - for now!!!
how can i use msn or yahoo messanger on the p990? I remember someone saying there is something called embuddy? please help guys! thanks loads-happy P990 user!

Re deleting messages, just select all the messages you want to delete, and then press the delete key on the keyboard
i am from oz too..this phone should be available in oz by december end. Thats what i heard from somewhere.
Woops, my bad... Advance Device Locks not yet compatible with P990
Ravi, Don't knock your self out.. if your phone still works stick to it till the new P series comes out. I think it's worth the wait.
For those wanting to lock their folders... try Advance Device Locks from WebGate. Integrated into phone... very easy to use.
the phone is great, although it reminds of my P900 when 1st had it not really sure how to use but once I had learnt what it could do it became a wonderful device! Lets hope this does the same!
With all the software installed. double click the update service on your desktop

had it for one day now nothing spectacular just does the job! I cant really see what the fuss was about although mine has not crashed once!
I have been using the P990i for the past month. The P990i is a very nice phone in terms of looks, function and features. HOWEVER, there are still some problems with its software. I have the latest version R7A001 but still there is this problem - In SMS mode, the "delete message" function sometimes disappeares from the options so you need to delete the SMS (either in the INBOX or SENT BOX) one by one. I have 4 other friends using this phone and they all experienced the same problem.
for Monu Koshy
Hi i read your post regarding the update of your firmware. Can you please send me a detailed step by step instruction of how to update the firmware on my phone?
i would go for p990i. One of my friend has a O2 mobile and she says it sucks big time. P990i with updated firmware in a safe bet. Also SE R&D team is looking forward to release an even better firmware for p990i. With all that into consideration and looking at brand value of SE phones, i reckon i too would get a p990i very soon. SE knows they cant disappoint customers in such a tight and competitive market place. They obviously know their short-comings and i am pretty sure they would stand up to the ocassion as they have through their previous P-series releases. P990i has all the good features you could expect in a smart phone. Also as many users have suggested, its important how you use your mobile, rather than having many applications open at the same time, which eventually eats up a lot of RAM. I guess we should be smart users rather than heavy users.
Hope all of you find this appropriate.
