That post was supposed to say does anoyne know if TomTom CAN be installed on the P990. I know that because its symbian I can install software, but what I don't understand is how installing the TomTom software will make the P990 into a GPS unit. How does it work does anyone know?????

The design is great. THOSE WHO RATE IT LOW ARE JUST JEALOUS & SCARED. Nokia & Samsung (& the rest of them) give you toyish fanciful designs and U pple jsut swallow everything. C'mmon wake-up. All that glitters is not gold.
These gripers dont know they will have to break banks to get a phone of these GigaSpecs from the competition. SE phones are still the best when it comes to price/performance/size. Period!!!! Just sync your old P series to MS Outlook & then resync from your Outlook to the new P990 & that should take care of most of your syncing problems.(from Nigeria)

i cant wait to have this phone in my freakin hands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i've been longing for an upgrade version of P9 series. This would be the most awaited mobile phone in the Philippines beating Nokia's communicator and N90's. im a previous user of SE P900 and P910 and it was a blast using those two phones... now i'm using K600i trying the entry level phones of Sony Ericsson.

if sony listens then they should quickly follow the proposed P990 with a version with EDGE, WiFi on LAN, USB2.0, PnP funtionality, faster processor, persistent storage against data loss, 16M colour TFT, 3M Pixel SVGA camera, extensive audio support,! The competition is extremely hot but they must be the leader in this field!

No 'g' on WiFi and no USB 2.0 makes me wonder where Sony's R&D's head at....perhaps towards PSP development because at the end of the day, its all about $$$ and PSP represents bigger market share than P series phones. What are your thoughts?

Sony ericsson stood out of the croud ever since they came up with p900. But don't they learn? Lack of the VoIP, no VGA screen, no "g" band on WiFi (HTC Wizard already has it and the JasJar rocks the 640 by 480 screen) and no 850 support for US. I think SE should know that US works on 1900/850 but they might come out with the US version later on like it happened with 910.
The flip: i don't understand why they came back to p900 version of it i think the perfect version would be the twisting flip like on p910 but with the large letters.
Anyways from what i see this phone definately does not look like a 1500 phone (may be from hustlers on ebay for the first 2 weeks of the official sale) but i would give my hard-earned 800. I think my p910 will be proud to be replaced by this one.

Can anyone tell me if this new release offers recording of a phone conversation??? I'm a journalist and need to carry phone interviews... The P900 for example doesn't offer that, one can only use it as a tape recorder but restricts conversation recordings. I remember being sooooo excited when I first bought my P900 almost two years ago, having paid huge money for it because it had just been released... It took me such a long time to get rid of it and I did it because it also had other major flaws such as failing to connect on too many atttempts (despite upgrading its software three times), a silly plastic edge around the touchscreen that kept breaking upon flipping cover back, very low-quality paint (paint goes off very quickly) and other software problems...

At the moment there is a great buzz in the mobile industry concerning the P990.
A huge amount of technology has been stuffed in this device i think P990 wants to retain its crown in this fierce sector for Super smartphones.
This device has to be the most complete smartphone and i think my search for the perfect device is now finally here!!
This device boasts a p900 look this was because the key pad on p910 gave SE many compaints regarding the less tactile feel of the key pad.
This device packs a 2 mega pixel camera with auto focus and has sony cybershot software built into p990 - true camera experience,320x240 at 262k colour screen, advanced gaming graphics engine, all new music player plays music and video at higher bit rates, plays mp3,aac,aac+,midi,wav,rmf etc...mpeg 4,real,3gpp,opera 8 true internet surfing, blackberry, full email client - push email.
Wifi, bluetooth 1.2,irda,usb faster connectivity 2.0 with usb charging.3g speed for connecting to devices+ video calling with conference calling.
Its has an improved pda experience, what is apparent to me this time Sony Ericsson has reponded to ever increasing competition in the Smartphone world with an out and out all singing and dancing Smartphone theres really not much more you can add to this device.
when you look ath the size to functionality and stability + software this device wins hands down!!!!!!!
