Now in my opinion the cracking only happens if you text A LOT, and by A LOT I mean I do about 2,500 txt messages a month and the middle of the each key on the first column cracked about the size of a hairline. no affect on the keys performance at all. and it kinda looks cool the way the light goes through. Another thing is you could always buy a new keypad on ebay for cheap and soo easy to replace. Hope I was helpful =D

i really didnt get dat cracking of keys.does it relly break n cm out or is dat smthing else.i am just thinking to buy this fone.pls help me

This phone is very very very fragile and it cracks so easily... I used to have many Ericsson and Sony Ericsson phones and I used to like the battery life, the signal strength and ofcourse the strength of the mobile itself but those things are not available in this phone at all.
If you want to get it get it for a girl or as a second mobile to use for it's nice look at night

This phone is the greatest ever!

I'm so glad i got it!

It has fantastic animated themes and wallpapers!

Brilliant camera and video!

And it's so good for texting, I don't what you people do to the keys to make them brake, but i've had this phone for 1 year and a half and they are still in brilliant tact!

I absoulutely love it!

It keeps me amused all night and the moving wallpapers are just fantastic!

If you are thinking about buying this phone, Don't think just buy, It's brilliant, absoulutely brilliant!

Reccommened to every single one of you!

It's to be honest a bit of a girlie phone, but you boys could easily get away with such a stylish phone like this!

This is Sony Ericsson best ever!

after a year of using this phone. it's had about 4-5 trips to sony to fix key cracking problems. yet to this day. the keys continue to crack. it held up for a while then started cracking again. within a week or two i've had 3 keys crack once again. well.. i've given up on sending this phone for repairs. keys are still usable even when cracked, but doesn't look as nice. i've had a pretty good year with this phone even though about 1/3 of the time it was being sent for repairs. i've flashed it to w580 and dropped it a couple times. still holding up well. but the keys are pushing me to discontinue using it and to move on to another phone. oh well.

all in all:
s500i's a DECENT phone.
- nice screen
- user friendly
- appearance is nice
- okay pictures
- love the feel of the keys.. (until they crack)
- battery life is affected by the brightness and light effects
- cool flash themes

-- cameras only 2mp, w/o flash and zoom
-- keys crack
-- sim card insertion is weird

pros > cons (depends how the key problem affects you)

like i said. phones DECENT.
cheaper than w580.
just flash the s500 to w580 and its basically the same exact phone. slight appearance tweaks.

I've bought the s500i about 2 months ago.
Since i've dropped it accidentaly the upper part of the back was broken, so the upper part could only fit half. Since yesterday my display was also broken. It turns on and off after 2 seconds and repeats that all the time.
I'm really not satisfied with the performance of the cellphone.
The upper part of the back is now completely broken since i wanted to check if it could work better, so that is broken too.
All in all, a pretty phone witch brakes down very easy.

as for anonymous, you need your stuff to be immaculate??? why'd you bother posting? it wouldn't matter what phone you had if you'd dropped it, what a waste of space, and for the roughies who crack the keys, buy a tradies phone, its obviously a girls phone, look at the size of the keys for christs sake, oh and i love mine, its great :) needs more internal memory though, but overall not bad at all

i recieved my first S500i in february and i have gone through 2 already the only real problem that i have eith the phone is that it was poorly made both of my phones have had the same issue... the buttons they keep cracking and after awhile they stop working so all in all i would have never purchased this phone if i would have knew about the deffects before i got it
