Sony Ericsson S500 - user opinions and reviews

Sony Ericsson

the battery life on mine isnt too great, it only lasts for a day with moderate use. the k800 that i had before lasted me at least 2 days without charging. also, its impossible to keep the face free of fingerprints bc everytime you touch it, youll leave another. but its easily wiped off so no biggie. otherwise, the phone is awesome for 270 USD. def one of the sleekiest looking phone out on the market

you can get it on ebay for 269 now i think. ive had mine for a week now and i love the everchanging the theme, it had different effects depending on the time of the day (butterflies come out in the afternoon ;) but its kindda girly in my opinion. the phone is almost exactly like the k800 minus the 3.2 camera and autofocus or any flash. but its 2.0 MP camera actually isnt that bad. overall get this phone if you want something so tiny it can get lost in your pocket, or something flashy to flaunt off to friends, or if youre just easily amused like me haha. i think because its so thin, it makes the phone seem a little on the flimsy side, it doesnt have that thick metal feel to it like some of the nicer phones, but its definitely not a cheap plastic feel either. the slide is excellent, very strong. the only thing is, its very fragile, i've crack my keys already (like they is a crack down the middle of each numbered key). and i dont know how, but maybe because i put it in my butt pocket and sat on it. but i have done this with all my other phones and none of them have ever had a problem. so i suggest you take extra good care of it because i read on here that someone else's keys also cracked within the first couple of days. otherwise, i love it!

yea sorry you would have to buy a memory card for it. It's only about 40 dollars and comes with an adapter, so if you end up selling it you can use the memory card for something else. just make sure its a sony and it says M2 on it. The camera is kinda dull but still good. It's way better then motorola k1 but just by a little bit.

For the people who has this phone, does the package contents include a M2 memory card, or do I have to buy one?

Just got this a few days back, and agree with most about size, ha it looks bigger online then in person. This isnt a complaint though, it fits perfect in my pocket almost to the point that i dont even know its there. As for the phones features, true its not as up to date as some of the other featured sony phones, but i think this is really due to the size. Its the same size as my s710 from sony, but 1/4 the thickness. The camera works well without the auto focus, and the night mode is actually pretty decent. This phone is packed with all the cool sony goodies like the video editor, picture and sound dj's, and was just added to sonys theme editor. I say give it time before the theme editor will have full support to change things like the everchanging theme allows, seasons, day and night and menu systems. I heard acouple people asking about the menu changing icons and such, and yes the menu icons are all changable based on the theme. Everchanging uses a completely different set of icons with special effects. The night and day changes the format to a straight line of icons that increase size when hovered, kind of like a media center design. Ive owned sony ericsson phones for about 6 years now, and this one did not let me down at all. It will be awesome when we can edit what the phone changes during the night an day and seasons!!! The over the air phone updates is also great!

Evrytime i get excited about buying this phone, i see someone here post a comment s saying "this phone sux0rz" "or nokia ftw" without givin a real reason, its kind of annoyin, cuz i research anytingi buy HEAVILY b4 investing

Lemme just say i have a RazrV3 ok...a RAZR!!!! lol (it was a gift)

So i'm just asking , when ppl say the build quality feels plasticky, cheap etc., what do they really mean.....does it creak, or does it feel like its goin to break when youi hold it in your hand??

could anyone who's come in contact with the phone compare it to the razr so i cud get a better understanding. PLEASE!!
..cuz i dont expect a 300 dollar phone to be made of metal like the shine or anything, so a comparison would be good.

thanks in advance

Oh and to you juxi... my icons don't change when I change the theme. I'm not sure why, but it really doesn't bother me much. I gave the phone to my gf anyhow and bought myself the k810. I haven't got it yet,so I'm using my sirocco again. To anyone who owns the K810? Is the call volume anygood? I hope so!!! *crosses fingers* or imma get yelled at for spending too much money.

If your sim card doesn't work it's because you have to change the network manually. If it's quad band and unlocked then it should work. If it is not reading your sim then you should do the following: go to the menu sreen. Go to the settings option. then go to the connectivity section on the far right.(click right on the cursor 4 times) you will see mobile networks. click on that and you will see search mode. choose that option and it will search the mobile network. If that doesn't work try new search. Both options will work. If all else fails you should contact the person who sold you the phone. Let's just hope you don't have to!

to the comments below about having the sim card not working, if you read carefully

S500c 850/900/1800/1900 MHz for China Mainland

i believe that you shouldn't had it unlocked and imported from the HK because the network was different in the China Mainland. I hope this was helpful.
