I'm not going t lie, I was once very enthusiastic about this phone, but after much research i find that it is probably not worth it as far as specifications go. It just doesn't fit my personality. However the Samsung u600 looks like a much better phone to buy. But the only con is that the battery life is absolutely terrible.

@Legend

"So 6500 slide should be a little more expensive than, say, Samsung U600 but I doubt it will cost more than 450 euros"

i agree, but 6500 slide's price will drop lower than the U600 in the mean time:)

SeF, well here in Finland 6500 slide will cost 370 euros (not including taxes). The cheapest price on S500i is 265 euros (tax included) and for N95 699 euros (tax included).

So 6500 slide should be a little more expensive than, say, Samsung U600 but I doubt it will cost more than 450 euros. So it certainly will be a bit expensive but not so expensive that only people with a lot of money can buy (which is the case with Nokia 8800 Sirocco, 8600 Luna or, indeed, N95).

No AF and I don't see a flash from pictures, so I'm assuming no flash either.

6500 will surely be more expensive than S500 even T650 maybe:),I won't call 6500 slide to be a "mid range" phone certainly because the specs and construction tell us that it is a "High-end" non-os, metal housing could even be better than N95s. but if nokia or GSMArena called this only "mid-range", then prepare for some serious flaws regarding the general aspects:D i.e. "poor" construction. ridiculous imho

It's a good phone with different menu than the other SE phone although "they" can be flashed. But there is a trouble for me. How much the cost of it?

I agree with you to some degree, SeF. Nokia 6500 slide is indeed a (mid range) feature phone with its S40 UI, 3.2MP cam and 3G, while S500i is a fashion phone. However, they both belong to the same class within the lines of my criteria: a stylish high quality mobile.

The reason why I'm choosing 6500 slide over S500i is that firstly I find the Nokia stylish enough. Moreover, it has that metallic structure so it surely is durable and there will be no "plastic cracks" that have been reported with S500i. And yes, it does have more advanced features which is s plus obviously. S500i is definately more cooler (my fav colours a black and lime green) but then again I don't want to choose a mobile solely on looks and I feel I get more bang with the buck in choosing 6500 slide.

T650 is a nice feature phone but I'm not too fond of candybar mobiles and that back cover camera lens ruins the whole back cover. Moreover, I want my keypad to be so that I can remove my finger from one key to another without my finger cruising thru the air. With T650, I cannot do that.

SE S500 and Nokia 6500 slide are too different apart from being slider, S500 focuses on look factor exotica while 6500 slide focuses on features(that's why GSMArena called it featurephone:D) anyway i don't like 6500 slide's design(obviously!), so i'll be still with the T650's side;)

Sony erricson's mobile phones' designs are actually not as innovative as other brands, nevertheless, the emergence of this spectacular phone proves the above statement wrong! This slider phone has its ergonomics all the way, furnished in a sleek manner. Its Smartly and boldly stylish with a perfect colour combination of black/neon green and yellow/white, giving two different types of inexplicable fashionable looks. On top of that, this phone will not be in favour for those who are looking for high-end specs phone, however it is considered relatively acceptable by consumer who are just seeking for a nice sleek phone with a basic user interface. It is for sure that this phone would be everywhere in the street once it is available in the market. Good job Sony erricson!

Got an update to you. Apparently some online stores here in Finland have already started to sell S500 (actually it goes as "S500i"). However, only the yellow/gold version seems to be available. This may change but it is a pity if the awesome black/green version is left to the furure.

BTW, again I remind you that S500 is being released NOW to only some countries (like Finland). Other countries will have to wait a number of months.

Finally, about the price. It seems that it will be significantly lower than I thought. At least two online stores list its price as around 260-270 euros (350 dollars -- bare in mind that Finland is an expensive country, though). That's about three fourths of the price of Samsung U600. Hmmm... That low a price makes me wonder: is S500 targeted to be
'an affordable slider'. If so I'm kinda dissappointed since I wanted it to rival with U600 which is certainly not 'an affordable slider'.
