NothinRandom, 22 Feb 2009You guy are missing the point. But In this phone Sony Ericsson has taken care of the CMOS sensor, they have made it bigger than 8MP CMOS sensor so that it can accomodate 12Mega pixels and give you guys a very fine quality of image.
Time to change my P1 with this, too bad it has Symbian not Windows mobile, for some reason with Symbian I cant access school's wifi.
And since when Sony using transflash and not m2 micro????

nickkk, 22 Feb 2009100% agree
i think 5mgp is enough n 8mgp is mor thn enough.if nokia or samsung make 12 or mor... moreYou guy are missing the point. A 12 megapixel (mp) camera doesn't necessary mean that it is better than a 8mp camera. The key is the lens. If you know a thing or two about photography, this makes perfect sense why SE would go with a 12mp camera.
Here's the thing. Typically, a decent camera cost around $800, but a good lens to go with it will drain you about $2500-$3000. Yes, as ridiculous as it may sound, it is 3~4 times the price of the camera itself. This is the reason why SE would up the mp of their camera.
They could have kept their 8mp camera. But if they wanted better quality, they would have added a better lens to the phone. However, this way, the entire phone would cost way too much. By increasing the MP, they hope to attain better quality/resolution (or induce such thought).
With this in mind, we all should wait until the specifications are finalized. Then, we all can draw a intelligent conclusion, without hasty immature remarks.
if this phone had HD video, sony ericsson would have made a big thing about it.
it obviously has QVGA video recording which is why they've kept quiet

Dani, 21 Feb 2009This Idou has a 3.5mm jack ..YET to be confirmed! Just dont complain as yet.Dude check out the pictures, it's old classic sony ercisson audio jack, I wonder who told u about such rumour, c for urself don't believe all what u hear!
Yeah, SIZE matters!!! The bigger the size, the more the details, and the more the details, the nicer the picture!!!! And the MP makes it better for zooming (digital zooming) too. It will take bigger pictures, so when you zoom, you see more details!!! Hope this phone would have HD video, then it will truely bit Omnia HD!!! And about the person who said no company will put all things together in one device, that's exactly true, cuz you see W995, it has kickstand, but no kickstand is available on Idou, and another example, no keyboard on Idou, and much more other examples.
Sotong, 22 Feb 2009I'm very sad cause this phone had to be cancelled anytime soon. Why they have to cancelled it ... moresotong,u r permanently stupid.SE cant go bankrupt its nokia dat wil go bankrupt whn we take their market away frm them.
Samsung announced on several sites they were working on a 12MP camera phone for the future, but it’s Sony that has beat them to the punch and actually announced the world’s first 12 MP CMOS image sensor for handsets, and the technology should be in phones as soon as March 2009, according to Sony.
The Asian half of the Sony Ericsson partnership has just gone official with unveiling the IMX060PQ, a 1/2.5 CMOS image sensor from the Exmor series that, apparently, has the industry’s highest Megapixel count: 12.25 MP, which rivals and beats some dedicated digital cameras.
The new 12.25 MP sensor is equipped with autofocus and various other photo enhancement features. Its price is said to be around 2,500 Japanese yen ($26 USD wholesale), so the phones to include it should not be more expensive than the 8 Megapixel ones that are already on the market (such as the Sony Ericsson C905, Samsung Innov8 or LG Renoir). I’m sure there will be an early “premium” involved with the price tags, as with any fancy new technology, but that should settle down quickly enough.
Needless to say, the handsets that will include Sony’s IMX060PQ will be made by Sony Ericsson first, so I guess we should expect some really amazing 12MP Cyber-shot phones to come in 2009 (rumors are they’re already working on a 12MP, it is IDOU
i have seen picture quality of the new SONY cybershoot 12MP is the best right now..i didnt say about the size of 12MP. Yes, 12MP on 360 x 640 screen is useless but there are many other things that make it to be good besides pixel part so these things influence picture quality on screen although the screen is even only qvga.
because of idou only use 360 x 640 screen i hope idou use vga video so this phone is not too expensive..vga video on 360 x 640 screen is good enough for 360 x 640 screen, isnt it?The most important thing of video is quality not about size so dont worry if idou only use vga video except to people who want to transfer their video to PC or plug it to LCD TV so HD video is recomended
but SE hasnt annouced resolution of video yet, if SE announce it that idou use HD video so this phone is recomended but iam sure it will be very expensive.
