Well.... I really have to say that this phone will be useless for anyone who likes ... changing themes , download software and all od this stuff
becuse it's more suitable for anyone in work need a Cute-Pure sounded phone ... That's the best choice I think
I have this phone since 5 months now and i REALLY love this phone.

I am satisfied with this though not overwhelmed after using for 20 days.My prority was audio quality & it scores 9.5/10 in sound.Overall, it is a mid range phone with emphasis on sound, that compensates few other drawbacks.

PROS:
1. Audio experience is awesome with preset/custom equalisers, speaker is clear n loud(could be more loud) though. No complaints about FM Radio audio quality, clarity.
2. User friendly UI.
3. Overall design & looks.
4. Under Sun visibility.
5. Loud ringtones n SMS tones.
6. Handy Slider..not to rigid, not to loose.

Cons:

1. Pathetically slow when accessing memory card.
2. Browser doesnt support most of pages. Shows "time out".
3. Camera Quality(2MP) could have been a bit better.
4. Absence of Themes.
5. Incompatibilty with SE PC Suite.
SE could have supplied an in ear earpiece with a 7.5K set.
6. Including a LED type flash wouldnt cost them much.
7. Low SMS capacity.

In nutshell, if SE can sell this one around 6K, then it would be OK.

BEGINNER'S REVIEW REVIEWS PROS CONS PLUS MINUS POSITIVES NEGATIVES OPINION
************
This is a phone which will make you cry as well as amuse you!
The design will win 9/10. A cute, compact, handy phone which You'll love to carry. I got the fiesta black-orange combination-lovely! The slider also so smooth and rigid enough. The back surface is scraTch resistant.(I think gsm arena added this feature with the display specs, by mistake)The system connector is on the side, more suitable for headset.
.
Display is good, NOT fantastic, good sunlight clarity, but 2"screen could have been 240x320. It appears fine in the CITYBEAT theme.
.
The User interface is something different from the usual Sony Ericsson phones in theW580 genre. (I am not familiar with the UI of SE phones with dial and end keys)Still it goes through the basic ways of SE phones, that we are familiar with. The UI has plus and minus. The more I use it, the more I like it and find it user friendly. There are three options/command lines always- left button, right button as well as the middle button. This gives more possibilities and convenience. For example, when you open a contact the centre button gives "Message" option directly. When Inbox is opened, middle button is VIEW and when it is viewed, middle option turns to REPLY. This is indeed, user friendly.(In the old UI, you'll have to press left soft key twice-options>view) The UI is definitely refined and new.
.
The interface is not very fast. But it is not annoyingly slow either. It has its own pace, at first I was a bit impatient, but now got in tune with its rhythm. Of course, it hanged a bit at times, but don't ask too much from a midrange phone. To me, the speed is OK. And one more thing, when I changed the 1GB Sony card came in the pack and used a 4GB Sandisk, I felt the speed is better!!
.
I still have to explore more from this UI. Because, many options which I thought to be absent at first were actually present; the problem was myself got too much used to with the old UI of SE. For example, in the files/contacts options, the 'mark' option was missing- I feared I had to copy/delete them one by one! But when I selected delete option, a pop up window asked "This item or Several or All ?" Just select several and mark as usual. I consider this to be better, avoiding too many options in the main list, giving the suboptions when you need it. Yes, the UI is refined! Ofcourse, some options may not be there; but I assure you, all the basic options of SE are present.
.
Another example for what I said above- that I have to study the UI more- is viewing photos in full screen/landscape. When I went through this page before buying the phone, I remember some writers here complaining that pictures cant be viewed full screen. YES, YOU CAN VIEW PHOTOS IN FULL SCREEN/LANDSCAPE. But not from file manager. Just press the camera button, there are three modes- camera, video and the player mode. Switch to the player mode and you can view/slide show in the LANDSCAPE mode. You can also view external images in fullscreen, provided You save them in camera Album instead of Picture folder. However picture ZOOM option, I couldn't find yet.
.
The camera is an average 2MP. There is a photofix option(autolevel).
Video player is very good. The videos 3gp and mp4 play very smoothly- it supports high frame rates, I suppose. The LANDSCAPE and normal views can be switched very easily with any one of the up/down navi keys. And if you want to turn off sound, just press # ! FFWD and Rewind options also got refined! No more painful press and hold and wait now. Just press for 2 seconds to start the FFWD, leave the key, and relax watching it and press the play button again when the required spot is reached- cool, isn't it?
.
The organiser has no NOTES. The phone doesn't support text files either. But all such minor handicaps can be remedied using the good Java support. So many easy note maker java apps are available. I use Mini Notepad and NoteHax. Install the YongReader and all the text files saved can be opened easily. I can read MS word documents using the Document reader installed and pdf using the Mobile pdf reader! Enough?
It supports most of the java applications- operamini 3.1 is going well in my phone. The Gmail and FaceWarp and file locker apps also working well. I find something weird in the java platform! The permission settings automatically goes one level downwards; that is 'ask once/always' to 'never'. I think this is a deliberate modification. This has plus and minus. Some apps which are designed to ask permission everytime dont work, like the Qfind. Also NO file explorers-even the powerful Opera2.0.5 filemanager- can change the file/folder attributes. But they can rename and alter the file extensions- so those who want to keep files private can relax! The phone doesn't allow changing back the file extensions in the normal way.
But the above said permissions feature has plus also. In my old K618, I was fed up confirming Yes to the permission questions- atleast 10 times while I opened a word file. But now in the W395, it turned to be a breeze to use with- no questions at all!! Just click and open a document.
.
The phone doesnt support themes expect the 5 inbuilt themes. A disappointment indeed.
And having no OBEX support it doesnt support PC applications perfectly. Still, You can do something with Float's mobile agent, by turning off Obex.(via bluetooth) I could download the phonebook-phone and sim contacts- WITH ONLY ONE NUMBER PER CONTACT. Also You can MANAGE SMS, SEND SMS, MANAGE CALL REGISTER, OPERATE THE PHONE KEYPAD FROM PC etc. But cannot access files. This, You'll have to do using mass storage. SE PC Suite is not supported. This is really bad! An SE phone which cant synchronise phonebooks with Outlook!! I had to send contacts over bluetooth one by one from my old phone to this, and through the simcard.
And there said to be one PC App, SE Media Manager(cant synch contacts anyway) .
AND THE WALKMAN! Alas! It compensates for all the negatives of the phone. The stereo speakers are real! It is not about how much loud, but how good is the music quality. 'Rock' is the best equaliser I found. And there is the Bass++ and Treble++ and so many. And it is loud too. Loud enough and louder than most of the walkman and other SE phones. The sound through given headsets is simply fantastic! Ringtones also very Loud.
.
Now, another drawback; it is true that while You talk with slider CLOSED, the other end gets your voice loud but distorted. I think the sensitivity of mic is set too high when slider closed, because callers commented me about sounds coming far from me, during conversation. But when slider is opened it is very clear.
.
Battery back up is average as I felt. But not draining off rapidly while listening music.

.*******************
SUMMARY;
***********
To sum up, if you are ready to accept its limitations and patient enough to accept it as a midrange phone, You will enjoy owning this cute, ergonomic handset with cool walkman experience and a special new UI. Inspite of its drawbacks, I love to keep using it, thats my experience with W395
