It's not gonna be $350 CDN; the S500 isn't even 350; it's more here.
But I asked a SE rep about the keypad issue and they said they'd either replace the phone or the keypad (they didn't specify) free of charge, so I doubt it would even be a big problem if u got a broken keypad or not.
But also, when I asked the SE rep, he mentioned that the phone would be released at the end of the month.

At mobile-review.com they say that the same keypad problem may happen to w580 since they're basically the same phone.

taken from there:

"There is a unique feature to the key design in the S500i – all buttons here are pieces of plastic tacked on a slab. So if you get heavy on the keypad, it might get covered with cracks or splits on the keys. This is a construction-related issue characteristic of all handsets, both the Sony Ericsson S500i, and the Sony Ericsson W580i. This defect even might not manifest itself at all or show up in a couple of weeks. It all boils down to how often you text, how big your hands are and so on. At present all we can recommend is call at the nearest service centre for keypad replacement, there is no alternative way-out. The maker is looking into this problem, but hasn’t received substantial number of returns and doesn’t see this issue as a production or design flaw, the only thing he does mention is that this isn’t a mass defect."

this looks amazing in blue/grey , nothin comes out in ireland tho , workin in a phone shop ill so be able to keep one all to myself :D

So can some one , anyone, i dont know who or how , but could you tell me if the keys of this will crack , like the s500's
thats the deciding factor on which phone i'll buy......which one has cracked keys.

There is no way that this phone is under CAD300

A very similar phone - S500, costs HKD2500 which is around CAD340

I would say W580 launches at around HKD2800-HKD3000 (CAD380-CAD400)

I think rogers has it, maybe you can get it with a lower price with some contract conditions

yo ppl, i thinking about this phone. y does it take so long to come out in canada? and any1 no how much would this cost in canada dollars? if this phone is over 300 then its a big RIPP! it should be around 250-280. this phone rocks and its so cool!

340 Euro???? No way!! It is not even a 3G phone. :( Hope it is not the right price. I think that somewhere between 250 and 280 would be fair for a w580i.

Where is the speaker for the phone.Is the sound clarity good like other SE walkman series.

SE fan, thanks for the info. I need a new phone and if this isn't coming out by the end of July, I'll get another one. But I luv this w580 and really wanted it to be my next phone.

it's a nice looking slide phone, thinner than w850i but now i found a new SE slide model which is more thinner than this, have a look on-w910i. NICE!!!

SE fans its final,the babe is coming for sure everywhere in Europe between 23rd of July and 7th of August.The price will be 280-300E,be ready.

This is for everybody that wants to know when the phone will be available in the U.S.A!

Somebody wrote that it will be available for vodafone on july 24th then that means that this phone should be out in the US any day now (14 days tops)since it will be made available in the US first. Here's the link..
