Sony Ericsson W880 - user opinions and reviews

Sony Ericsson

Just got this on PAYG now its on clearance - only Ģ90!

I've been a big fan of SE starting with the k700, and working through two K750's, a K800, and W580 - in turns delighted (when they get things right) and exasperated (when they get things wrong) - My experience with is, wait six months to a year before you get any particular model - by then, all the software bugs (freezing, crashing) and hardware bugs (cracked keys, odd colour tones with camera etc)have been ironed out, and you can enjoy the phone as the designers intended! Case to point - Got the K750 on launch and suffered 3 returns with freezing but loved the phone when it worked - about a year later was in between phones and when my network offered it again, took the plunge and was delighted - It's still the best phone overall I've ever used!

Ok back to the W880 - Slim and light, packed with features including great walkman, great battery life, what more do you want. No radio though boo but that would probably affect the size. Camera only so so, but I'm a photo freak so always carry a compact camera in my hobo bag anyway. If a decent cam is important tied in w slim size, maybe look at the new c902...

I have been very dissapointed with W880i. I was a big fan of the SE mobile phones but this mobile disspointed me. I was only able to use for 6 months before it stopped working. I was unable to get it fixed becuase they stopped producing the phone

I've had the W880i for almost a year now.love the size, fits perfectly into my tightest jeans.keypads are real sexy.yes i too wish it had a flash because trying to take a photo at night is not good, but in the afternoon you get beautiful pictures.the external speakers that came with my phone ROCK!they are tiny but make a whole lota noise and very nice bass for their size.software is very sensitive.all in all,I like

I have been using the w880 for a while. It succeeds as a Walkman phone, I find myself using the w880 instead of my ipod touch, due to the nice megabass function and size. The ipod touch is quite a huge mp3 player.

When I turned off the 3G I got about 4-5 days of use. In South Africa the 3G is not so good in all areas yet anyway.

Love the size off this phone, way lighter than my previous W810, and also very stylish in comparision to the black cheap looking plastic they used before.

I recommend this phone, for the sheer fact that unlike other models it packs a lot of features into a slim body and still looks like a superstar

I have one of these, and it is a really good fone, besides the tinny speaker, its very decent.

I've had this phone for almost a year, and its probably the most disappointing walkman phone I have owed.Has a tendency of losing signal(my girlfriend and cousins do the same). The battery ife was nothing short of bad from day 1.The best thing about the phone is only the picture quality and the light weight. The buttons are a nightmare to use.The walkman as well is very disappointing, the phone's speaker is very high pitched and extremely tinny sounding.Overall I wouldnt recommend this phone,it looks all flashy but in actual fact is way more disappointing than its cosmetics want you to believe

Had a W880 since first released.

Battery life fantastic
Camera good outside if well lit, useless indoors, shame there is no flash.
Features pretty good all round.
Speaker absolutely awful - big let down for what is supposed to be a walkman phone.
Couldn't listen to music at anything more than a whisper or the speaker distorts. Ringtones have to be carefully selected so they dont sound crap.

Other than that it is really slim, really light easy to forget which pocket it is in...if they had put a better speaker in and a flash it would be perfect (and probably thicker and heavier...lol)
