W890i is perfct and smart phone good feauter is 3g, multi tasking, 3.2 mp camra video capture qvga is v.good betry backup is v.exelent, slim metalic body v.confoRtble keypad, i give w890i 10/10

Another interesting thing - You'll have to take the backup of your handset if you want to upgrade this handset (As mentioned above) - quite obvious!!! But it hangs there also.... ;-) So, No way out!!

Heavy user will have trouble after using for 1Yr for sure... When you dial a number or answer a call which is not saved in your phone book - phone will restart. and it will be very slow. Sony ericcson will ask you to upgrade your software, you will end up upgrading once a month...

I bought sony ericsson w890i and everything is fine. it has a good camera and a good camera for video calls but my rear speakers doesn't work.How to fix(if anyone knows). please help

to download pc suite its very very very easy way. just type on google : download pc suite sony ericsson w660 (for example) and choose the web address u want to download pc suite. my phone explorer is the application for sony ericsson to accompany with pc suite. sorry again for my poor english the time now ( i hope not in my future :) )

u want to update your firmware its the same meaning that u want to reflash your phone. that's why u need a driver called usb flash driver. search on google how to download and how to install the driver. when u done download the driver, to install u must hold c button when u plug the usb cable to your phone and the phone in off condition. no need to hold 5 minutes, just a few second and the driver will be installed. sorry for my poor right now :)

Hi i need some serious help. I want to update my software and in the setup it keeps asking me to hold down the "cancel button". Im holdong it down for like 5 minutes but still nothing. What should I do?

I have this phone for nearly 2 years and haven`t faced any problems, it only restarts when you want to install a game which is an invalid file or theme that is damaged.
So people buy this phone, cause its a good phone!

complaints about phone restarting are nonsense, this was the case in early 2008 before any firmware update was out. since its release, there were many updates and the last one is from middle of 2008, version R1FA035 (36 and 37 are identical, only difference is network-specific branding).

so don't listen to people who for some reason complain about ancient firmware trouble in 2010 and never bothered to use the sony update service software.

w890 has too low volume in its standard stupid configuration from sony. also its video and photo shooting quality and interface are terrible. both have third party fixes that make the phone great like it should have been by default. the acoustics and camera drivers can easily and safely be updated. here are the best versions as of today:

overall this phone has great and exceptional build quality, unlike even much more expensive and recent 10mm and below phones. it has a comfortable and quick interface, bluetooth takes very little battery time especially when set to powersave mode, and most importantly (it is a phone after all) it has great sound quality especially if you update the acoustics driver. for a phone this thin, it is a great achievement, and way before others, in 2007.

the screen is very nice but like almost all others it is pretty much impossible to view in direct sunlight (and i do mean sunlight, so you englishmen or similar can save me your comments, and so can you "why do you want to use a phone while standing in sunlight you pathetic human" people).

the sony computer driver and software integration is perfect, even in windows 7 64-bit. very well laid out and always reliable. this is a great advantage over some other companies' software (cough nokia).

one sadly missing feature is phone number based blocking of calls and messages.

in short i made a very, very extensive research before coming to the conclusion that this phone, with 2 little modifications, is by far the best super slim phone one can buy today if he/she wants high quality *phone* features. and i'm not even talking about the walkman audio player features. oh and there's even wav support.
